I say hopeless probably because i'm too negative. But just when it seemed things were about to finally turn good for the Habs, everything falls down and they go back to what they were before. Like I said, even with all the money we have, you have to consider that this season was full of underacheivers and it's really hard to say who we really want to resign. I'd say Komo, Tanguay (and that is if they actually want to resign because this season was not really promising for 2009-10) and the young guys like D'Agostini, etc. With all that's happened, we can't afford to keep Kovalev, Koivu and other older guys because this team needs a radical change like having guys with much more character and more consistancy. Unless they are ready to accept a very lower salary, I don't see it happening. What's the point in having 20 millions if you don't have anybody to spend it on. That's basically why I say hopeless.

first time in my life that I'm rooting for the other team...weird feeling it is.

but i mean at some point it is justified.

Absolute, all time, favorite player's milestone > Favorite team

sorry Habs, I'm with Marty on this one.

I could never do that.As much as I like Brodeur, sorry Marty you play for the wrong team you lose tonight.3-1 habs.

He will shatter Roys record anyways and probably Sawchuks.Just not the Roy record tonight.

I'll be surprised if we still have komo next season.

Koivu stays, not open for discussion.

Gotta hand it to him,remarkable.

Then why is Detroit full of high impact players?

Datsyuk 171st overall

Zetterberg 210th overall

Franzen 97th overall

Listrom 53rd overall

It takes is a good scouting system and an even better farm system!

I really, really hope that the Habs light up Brodeur tonight.....we don't need him tying Sir Patrick's record here!

GO HABS GO!

If Montreal ever had players like Datsyuk and Zeterberg then they would of assurdly been run out of town for being soft. Neither are power forwards and have been "guilty" of being soft (especially in the playoffs) prior to them winning the cup last year. Matter of fact (to me that is), Detroit's roster would of been blown up because prior to last year, they had not won a cup since 2001-2002, they kept on getting knocked out in the first round by 8th seeded teams. Montreal fans and media would of criticized them saying that they were not built for the playoffs. Datsyuk and Zetterberg would of been packaged off. Yeah, they would of been chewed up and spitted out by fans and media.

Ken Holland would not have lasted in Montreal as well. His team has too many Europeans. They only have 6 Canadians on the team. None of which are from Quebec. None of which speaks french. Captain is a Swede and so is the Alternate Captain. The other Alternate Captain is a Russian.

Well, the roller coaster ride continues and we all know going down feels a lot worse than going up. I just hope Brodeur has to look for his next win somewhere else.

HAHA.....This version of the Habs should have been run out of town a long time ago for being soft.

I have a bad feeling about this one...

This might not be a .... light hearted....night on the forum.

Agree. We should have one night where profanity is allowed just to get it off our chests. :)

I don't understand why everyone is making such a huge kerfuffle about losing to the Islanders. Yes, they aren't a good team. But they'd been pretty solid lately after having dumped Campoli, Comrie, and Guerin. They were on a bit of a hot-streak. It happens.

Tonight however, we're going to have to be much better. New Jersey has quietly become one of the most well-rounded teams in the league. They're increasingly dangerous with the puck, and if they ever get ahead by more than a goal all I can say is "good luck". Brodeur is almost assuredly going to be on top of his game: his career numbers against Montreal include a 1.80 GAA and 8 shutouts. We're going to have to get up and in his face early and often. If we don't, we might as well stat prepping for New York on Tuesday.

well jet it probably wouldnt have been a huge deal if we hadnt already blown 4pts against tampa 4 pts against the leafs and countless other points we should of had this year against weaker teams

Agreed, already started in my household, game hasn't even started yet. ;)

LOL....Amazing how we can get so stressed over the Habs. Me, I'm already looking for something I can afford to break! I'll give my wife credit though, she has already hidden the hammers and axes.
