Hard on the pedal...straight to game 82...no letting up...play like their lives depend on it.

GO HABS GO

J

PS> I'm scared, but trying to be positive.

its scary times man, scary times... your not alone

Does anybody else feel that Halak didn't really play that badly last game? Sure he let in one softie on Grabovski, but all the other goals were from prime areas, and our D was to blame, not him. He really should be given another chance. I really think Price is mentally toast for the rest of this season. Shooters have figured him out, and when he tries to compensate, he overcompensates.

ya i feel its wrong to be going with Price as well, you just know whats coming.....

Halak didnt let in 1 softie last game, but 2. The one between the legs that was atrocious and the other from Grabovski. I still can't believe this one got through. But whoever is in the net I don't care, to me goaltending is part of the problem but is far from being the major problem. Just because someone lets in 2 bad goals doesnt mean you have to stop playing.

if that were the case price would never play again lol

March 24th 2009

Atlanta Thrashers

@

Montreal Canadiens

Green is for Hope

gamethread2s.jpg

Probable Line-up:

Goalie - ?

1- Koivu – Kovalev - Tanguay

2- Kostitsyn – Plekanec - Kostitsyn

3- Latendresse – Lapierre - Kostopoulos

4- Higgins – Metropolit - Dandenault

Defence - yet undisclosed

March 6th, 2009, a few hours before our last game against Atlanta:

- Even though everybody expected Halak in the net,

he was still incommodated with the flu,

was feeling better but not quite enough

to come back in the game so Price was up;

- In the Atlanta Thrashers training center,

the team was treated to 30 minutes of punitive stop-and-go skating,

punitive because of their previous performance against Buffalo;

- It was to be the beginning of the end for Carbo,

as Gainey later reported that's when he had started thinking

about the coach's capacity;

Then a few minutes after the last game against Atlanta:

- We had lost 2-0, the first goal on a penalty kill,

the second in an empty net;

- We had 25 shots on the goal, let 28 on our goalie,

and won close to 50% of faceoffs;

- Carey Price examiners saw him "wake up"

sometime in the middle of the first period;

- Penalties had rained on both teams: roughing, fighting, misconduct,

you name it, 42 minutes in total for Montreal and 56 minutes for Atlanta;

- Roughing started with only 3:30 minutes in the game,

between Kostopoulos and Valabik;

- Stewart fought with Thorburn, and O'Byrne with Bogosian,

the latter young kid receiving quite a beating;

And the three stars of the game were Thrashers...

Go fetch the bandaids!

Nice job on the gameday thread...GOHABSGOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I predict this is the game that will turn things around .

I sure hope so,time is running outtttttttttttttttttttttt ;)

I feel that if Carey Price can get through the first 10 minutes without giving up a goal, the Habs will win. The first 10 is key, if he gives one up, especially a softy, the shoulders will drop, the boys will slump their heads and start skating in sand as usual while trying to "trap".

It doesnt really matter if the Habs score first these days, it doesnt give that much momentum it seems, they just cant afford to have their buzz killed by a softy yet again.

I hope Carey plays like Carey freakin' Price!

I agree with the bolded sentence,i hope the team in front of carey helps him out by scoring the first couple of goals,mainly the first.

If they score an early goal on price,just watch his expression ,will not be a pretty site.

WE HAVE TO SCORE FIRST.

you say that scoring first doesnt seem to give that much momemtum.

yea,in price's delicate position,confidence and all,ya wanna bet ???

I wish the kid the best but Carey Price is about 3 bad goals from a Ron Hextall meltdown. I think Jaroslav Halak should get 7 of the next 9 regardless of tonights outcome. He's played one bad game all season and gets benched whereas we keep hoping Price will rebound. I sincerely hope he does but I think if we make the playoffs Jaroslav Halak has to be the starting goalie and if thats the case he should be playing on our road there!

wow some of you seem to forget everything. Halak has played way more than one bad game all season. Remember those games we had to win 6-5 while Price was injured? At that period of time, the guys were still able to score and they saved his ***** more than once. He's played great only since the famous 4 games winning streak because he was awful before that

I to hope that with ten games left we can make a run, but don't underestimate the Atlanta's or Tampas or even the Isles. They are all long out of the playoffs and thinking "wouldn't it be great to destroy Montreals big anniversary year"? That being said, the thrashers, lightning and sabres are all not playoff teams, and if we are at least deserving of an 8th place seed this year, we should win all three of these games.

The main problem with these "long out of it" teams is that they ALL beat us the last time we played them.

Atlanta has won 7 of their last nine...and we have stunk since mid January.

I would love for the Habs to win out the rest of the season... but, I suspect the exact opposite will happen. The only good that can come of losing is that it will increase our draft prospects..... Oops, I hope Gainey didn't trade them away for Schneider( Bryan McCabe...the OLDER version)

Still GO HABS GO!

Are you talking about this goal Audrey?

See, for me, I didn't really see that as a softie. That's a shot from a prime area of the ice through a partial screen. The far worse offense on that play is how far our D backed up. Watch the clip. We had 3-4 guys back on that play, so it's not a question of getting players to backcheck. What should have happened here is that our D should have forced the issue at the blue line (like every team we play against), causing either a turnover, or the Leaf player dumps it in. Instead, he is able to skate in untouched up to the top of the circle, and even then he could have kept going. That is why we get outshot and outscored every game.

sorry Wmarcello I'm not at home and my computer is really slow here. I can't even watch 30 seconds long videos on youtube so I can't watch the recap either. I don't remember exactly what it looked like but I remember seeing it several times on tv and saying how bad it was. All I can remember is that there was a huge hole that he didnt protected

Ah that's too bad. When you do get home though, I urge you to take a look. It's pretty much the biggest reason why we're no longer competitive. If and when you do watch it ask yourself, "how often do we get shots off from this area?" It's not very often, yet we are literally giving the opposition chances like this every period. When you give the other team such a handicap every game, it's no wonder that we can only win when either our offense is on fire, or our goalie stands on his head. Until Gainey figures this out we're doomed, and chances are if he hasn't figured it out yet, he's not going to...

We can win this game ! I sure hope the fans that'll be at the Bell Center will cheer their team on. It's been a while since we heard them chanting "GO HABS GO ! GO HABS GO ! GO HABS GO ! ".

I predict that we will come out strong and win this game 3-1 !

Wow,it's crazy having to hope to win a home game against the lowly Thrashers at this point of the year.Who would've thunk it

Price tonight if he blow it tonight.... not good at all for his confidence he seem so weak between the ears

Good One. Was that a joke or poor English?

If they lose tonight, the team will be the official joke of the NHL. Right now Ottawa and Toronto are the jokes, but they beat the Canadiens sooooooooooooo................
