sensreds
I was just watching the news on LCN, and they were mentioning that the possible new owners could be looking into doing what the Leafs have done in the past few years, that is creating a HabsTV station/website based on the LeafsTV station and website. This can be very interesting. They said that the Toronto Maple Leafs are the model team for the NHL as far as marketing goes. As for the Montreal Canadiens, they are in 3rd place as far as value goes and this could propel the franchise to being the top team in the NHL. This could be a good story to watch develop in the month ahead.
mtl_-lt-3emHabs
That would be awesome . The Habs r winners and the fans r the best , not like r closet maple(fudge)leaf fans . Where I live the T.O fans only admit they r one is when they win a game ( in other words not often ). Kinda makes sense why Graboski fits rate in on a leafs team, cause he's a poor loser that couldn't break the Habs line-up and know is h@ll bent on hurting Habs players and of all ppl a real classy guy like MARKOV. My prayers r with you Markov and I hope you heal well.
habby67
I am sick of everything Leafs. We are in my opinion and as a matter of fact the Model Franchise of the NHl, not the Maple Laffs. I guarantee you the idiotic CBC commentators will be still talking about the Leafs well into the playoffs. Thank god for RDS, as it seems that CBC thinks the Maple Laffs are the only nhl team in the universe..
chrisjamessauve
Maybe they'll show some Habs games in English...if it's an English station, which it probably won't be.
JHaul
Won't happen, at least when it comes to game broadcasts. RDS owns the television broadcast rights through 2013. They also own the online broadcast rights.

They also own the online broadcast rights. That's the french rights, I believe. In theory, wouldn't English broadcasts be permitted? Also LeafsTV doesn't show that many games and I doubt any kind of Habs station would either, it likely be pre/post game stuff as well as classic games for example. I don't know that it makes a ton of sense, unlike the Leafs fan base the Habs fan base is pretty split french/english, so you either have to produce/maintain 2 networks or ignore half of your fanbase. I1IscottieI1I
IMO we need a english all habs tv station. RDS covers french fans but for the English fans we are left to buy NHL Game Center and watch the games on the visiting teams tv station which sucks big time. They must no that there are almost equal amount of french as there are english habs fans. I mean the are habs fans all over North America and some even in Europe. Exactly, RDS only owns the french rights. I'm you Roy, even if it does happen it probably won't broadcast all the games. However, it wouldn't be a bad idea in terms of marketing and the extra insight to the Habs wouldn't hurt. I'm all for it if it happens.
Larry-Launstein-Jr
If they had online games available like CJAD does for free, I would watch in a heartbeat.

There is only so much of the visting teams announcers I can take on NHL Center Ice. I often switch back to RDS just to get away from them. This Edwards guy for Boston is a nightmare. "Komisarek goes down like a paper doll!"....jeezus, he had 2 linesman and another B's player, and Chara throwing punches. I was purple with rage after I heard that... Larry-Robinson
I used to have the Centre Ice Package, but gave it up. I too cannot watch the games in English from the other teams feed. I commentators are way to bias. I know that you have to be bias up to a point, but at least when your describing something clearly seen on t.v and you blow it out of proportion and make it seem something that it is not. I got the RDS package and prefer to watch the games in French, even though I don't speak or understand the language that's fine wih me. Anything is better listening to Buffalo, or Boston Commentators they are two of the worst in the league. It's like a root canal.

Next year I am switching to Star Choice and watching all the Habs game in French in HD.
dougrj
I find it best to watch the broadcasts with announcers for the other teams with the mute on, so I don't listen to them. That makes the game more enjoyable for me. Thank you to the person who invented mute.
fourtrax
As much as Brunet gets on my nerves, the RDS team is head and shoulders above the rest. Sure, they are obviously Habs partisans, but they never hesitate to commend the other team for a great play, goal, or whatever, nor do they shy away from criticizing the Habs when they're not playing their best hockey. That Edwards guy, boy, he's beyond annoying. He sounds like a wrestling announcer.

There's no way it would broadcast more than a handful of games (if that). CBC owns all Saturday night games in English, TSN would obviously want some, etc. (and it would be stupid for the NHL to do this since the channel wouldn't be available to most fans, plus I doubt they could afford to get all games). A basic channel is possible, but the language split will probably be a barrier.

As much as I hate Toronto,I love basketball at least as much as hockey so,I have no choice but to be a Raptors fan since I am certainly not American. The most curious thing is that on the Raptors TV channel they show some other game while you have to switch to a different channel if you want to watch the Raptors!???I have never been able to make sense of this kind of logic but, hey,I never claimed to be a media engineer or whatever!!! Rocket-1
This is never going to happen as of now, RDS pays millions to own the exclusive rights. And RDS is still under contract for the next 4 seasons.
