May the BEST team WIN!

thought I'd share this silly hockey story with my favorite hockey fans ... enjoy

This morning, I was in the middle of my "Habs VS Bruins" playoff rant with some co-workers when

a client totally cut me off and said "god woman, it's only a game". My reply was short n sweet "Leaf fan?" ;)

2 more sleeps

Screw "Lucic vs. Laraque". I want to see "Chara vs. Laraque". That'll be something.

They've done that twice already (see youtube), both times ended up in a real early take down with each guy ending up on top once. Not much of a fight.

man i am so stoked for the playoffs, even though the chances of the habs losing are greater. But the thing about the playoffs is YOU NEVER KNOW. Habs can beat them. GO HABS GO!

I dont know why, but I always have a feeling that vs BOS, its always possible and it has always been. We always found ways to beat them...I really am positive! I know BOS is the favorite, but it wouldn't be really an upset for me if we down these bears, and Im confident we can

YES WE CAN! :D

GO HABS GO!!!!

This is by far the most over achieving team I have seen in sports in recent memory. They don't have a Kovalev, they don't have a Tanguay, nor (I know he's hurt) do they have a Markov. That uneducated moron julian and his goons have one objective, and that's to head hunt. We can really use this to our advantage, and if julian tries playing mind games with Gainy then he's fighting a hopeless battle. Gainy is a man of class and intelligence, he knows how to handle himself.

I said this even before the matchup happened, whoever plays the bruins in the first round is going to knock them out, in either 5 or 6 games. You can almost consider our away games as home ones. Chara's going to get booed infront of his own fans, and we're going to hear Ole Ole Ole throughout the match.

Habs take this series with ease, just as long as Price plays half decent. Expect thomas to self destruct, he's known for it this past season was really the only good year he had.

Here's to Laraque smashing Lucic's face into pieces :D. Laraque, Kovalev, Tanguay, Schiender, and MOST OF ALL Price are going to be our key players. Lets go Habs, no one wants a bunch over achieving head hunters to advance.

While I agree we can win (and in my gut I think we will) I think its a bit unfair to say essentially say they are talentless hacks. They may not have a Kovalev, Tangauy or Markov but they do have Savard & Krejci - both of whom would be our leading scorer - comfortably - this year. Add Recchi, Kessel & Ryder & they do have some pop up front. On the back end, everone talks about Chara but Wideman is also a pretty darned good player himself. Bergeron, Lucic, Kobasew - they have lots of mid-level depth scoring. Id dare say it wont be a "cake walk."

I do agree with you about Thomas. You cant take away the remarkable regular season he had - but - he's been known to implode & under the right circumstances we can possibly exploit that.

I dont think its going to be easy but I do think its doable.

The Bruins are not talentless hacks, not even close. I hate their stinking guts, but let's give credit to the enemy. They have one of the top d-men in the game (Chara), an effective if unorthodox goalie (Thomas), a premier playmaker (Savard), and a cadre of good young goalscorers (Bergeron, Kessel, Ryder, Wheeler, Lucic). They have plenty of talent. That doesn't mean we can't beat 'em, but there is no point pretending they're just a bunch of hatchet-men. The old Broadstreet Bullies weren't just goons either; they could play.

Agreed, they led the East in goals scored and you can't punch the puck into the net.

agreed that Boston won't be easy to play against but everyone remembers last year when Montreal was seeded 1st and Boston made the series a nail-biter....If Montreal can put a scare into the Bruins the team might become tentative after basically breezing through the regular schedule...that could be their weakness....they're expected to win and were not...I'd love it if we could take a game in Boston and get last change in Montreal this could very well be a close series....we put up a good fight in the last game in Boston with a rookie Weber and no Markov...Kosty hasn't hit his form yet and BG and Stewy could negate Thornton Chara and hopefully that jerk Lucic....everyone needs to step and not be intimidated ...get the PP working when they take goonish penalties...I have a good feeling about this series....Boston aren't chumps but I believe their bubble can be burst

Wow...did anyone watch the sportsnet preview for the Montreal vs Bruins series? Basically comes down to us getting thumped and not standing even a chance against Boston. They made it sound like Montreal is basically not even to be classified as an NHL team. The line of Koivu, Tanguay, Kovalev will not be able to do anything against Chara and the Bruins according to the analysis. I am a pessimistic person at heart, but even I did not write them off this bad. 6 out of 6 vote for them out. I would love to make them eat their words and predictions. Thrive on this role habs...lets go!!!

That's what I was saying Brian....this is more about the mental aspect...if we get one of the first two games you don't think Boston will tighten up a bit??...we've got tradition with us as well ...theyve only won 7 series from us ...ever...being an underdog can only be a good motivater

Im sorry but... over acheiving? 53 wins is over achieving? We only had 47 last year and got top seed in the conference and not many people people were calling even us overacheivers. I hate all the bruins as much as you do, but I just don't think its fair for you to make a statement like that when the teams record and stats shine like there's do.

Thats AWESOME. This team thrives on being an underdog! Last year when we were a "favorite" we came apart. This is good news ;) hehe.

The sportnet panel is full of idiots, don't even bother getting frustrated over them. I believe the Bruins are as good as everyone hails them, but I do not agree with the negativity thrown at the habs. Like I said in the other thread, the season has given me no evidence to think that we can beat them, but I still don't think we've seen the best out of the habs this year, and Im hoping we start to see it Thursday. :)

Unofficial/Unconfirmed lines for game one provided by TSN

Tanguay - Koivu - Kovalev

A. Kostitsyn - Plekanec - D'Agostini

Latendresse - Lapierre - Kostopoulos

Higgins - Metropolit - Laraque

Hamrlik - Komisarek

Gorges - Dandenault

Schneider - Weber

Price

A few things...

1) Schnieder must be hurting.

2) Where and when did Weber come into the situation? I think that Bresbois might fair better than Weber, but Weber will fair better than O'Bryne.

3) Dandenault is finally playing where he belongs.

4) Stewart is a good late round insertion for energy and physicality. I like that Gainey has him out in the first game.

5) Not sold on the second line. They all have speed and skill but not enough sandpaper. They will probably be trapped in their own zone most of the time getting crunched down low. I could see Stewart being thrown in on that line, in place of D'Agostini, if they struggle in the first games.

6) The other lines are pretty solid. Higgins and Metropolit have had some chemistry in the past few weeks and Laraque brings something that we lacked last year in this type of series. I see this line grinding it out pretty hard and potting a few garbage goals.

7) Hopefully the other lines can keep up their solid play without taking stupid penalties.

8) The loss of Markov is tremendous. He should be locked up for life...

*********************

I believe that the Habs can take the Bruins. Something inside me....The Bruins will bring out the best in this team. Maybe I'm crazy, maybe I am full of energy and excitement or simply just blinded by my Habs sentiment; either way something tells me that they will be able to win.

GO HABS GO
