1stroundpick
I am officialy boycotting the 2009 NHL Playoffs after botched called late in the second period wich should have resulted as Carolina being up 3-0. BTW Booston and Carolina are the 2 teams I hate the most in the NHL but as a fan of hockey I am watching this game tonight and will watch it in its entirety but will not watch another playoff game this year . I would appreciate your comments. Thanks

js2
Yeah that was pretty ridiculous. TSN clearly showed that the puck was across the line. Not sure how it was so complicated for the guys in Toronto/upstairs.
Lynch_mtl
I like this comment made by someone on youtube: Thankfully for the NHL front office it did not play into the outcome. Otherwise, the NHL joins the WWF. Too true. What *****.

Thanks i'm sad for you. all the other match-ups have been fantastic hockey. the call was ridiculous. it was clearly a goal. not to mention that the bruins cross-checked and elbowed at will while 'canes got called for blowing their noses. it was a disgrace. i'm thinking the bruins have bought some refs. i have no evidence to back up my slanderous claim other than last night's game (and a few habs games to boot). Glory_Days
Yeah, I'm glad Boston didn't make a comeback because that was a terribe call. You show the video to someone who knows nothing about hockey and he would tell you the puck is over the line. You can clearly see some white between the puck and the redline...doesn't take a genius to make the right call IMO. Go Canes!
koivu-is-king
I dunno guys. Maybe Im crazy but I dont see the puck conclusively over the line. it bounces & flips around (almost defying physics!) but thats all in the air - there is no definitive angle that shows it is on the goal side of the goal-line...and ultimately the NHL mandate is that if it isnt conclusive, it isnt a goal... I mean I dont really care - I hate the bruins & i hate the canes, so it doesnt really matter to me one bit who wins this series.

DA_Champion
I had thought the Canes get the best refereeing in the league. It was atrocious against Montreal though. The refs kept getting in the way of the habs' skaters, giving disproportionate power plays to Boston. That's the main reason the Bruins swept the habs. Looks like the NHL is investing in the Boston market.
Habs24Champions_mtl
that shouldve been in it was past the freakin line those cheating bruions suck gas i hate them they set it up thats why i loathe this team cause its a CONSPIRACY a conspiracy

It should have been a goal. Also last night carolina forward had chara's jersey pulling him back no call then it goes down the ice and there is a one handed tap on the stick delayed penalty canes get the extra man out there and they score. So in my opinion a real hockey fan/player can see the game from all angles and both sides and not be bias towards their team.

Can't see how anyone stares at that and says the puck is not completely across the goal line. There's white ice between the puck (on its end) and the goal line. One relevant question is how wide is the goal line supposed to be. The goal line paint goes from red in the middle to pink on the edges as it dissipates. If video judges think they had a bite of the line, I'd suggest they're using some of that pink. If you measure from the mid point of the red line to the puck you get a whole lot more than half the width of the goal post. I'm assuming the goal line width is intended to be the diameter of the goalpost. Makes sense, any way. Another point of reference: if the ref had called it a goal initially, the video judges would have spent virtually no time confirming it a goal. I had thought the Canes get the best refereeing in the league. The Canes do draw the most penalties somehow, consistently.
musicalhab
What about the Detroit disallowed goal in game 3? If not for that I seriously think Det would be up 3-1 in that series.
