Roy In Talks With Avalanche?

Recommended Posts

I'm happy as a Roy fan, but disappointed as a Canadiens fan, to read the following :

If Roy is in talks for any position with the Avs' organization, they may have pre-empted any attempt we could have made to do the same. Whether it be as an assistant to ween him in or as the head coach next season, I would have loved to see him involved with the Canadiens again. He isn't perfect and he isn't necessarily the best candidate, but he is the epitome of what a Montreal player should be. Passionate, indomnitable and a champion.

I don't want a hot head rookie coach and i am a huge Patrick roy fan.

How about a hot head rookie assistant coach? :P

Carbonneau fiddled while Rome burned. Gainey didn't do much fiddling at all.

I'd rather have the fire on our side than the fiddle. :P

IMO it probably won't be that long before Roy is coaching somewhere in the NHL. He has had some success in the Q as a head coach, & he is not that far removed from playing in the NHL. He appears to be a fast learner, & definitely a faster learner than Carbonneau, & I don't think he has any problems communicating with his players.

I would certainly accept Roy with open arms as an assistant or more specifically,,,a goalie coach. There's a guy that a young pair of goalies can certainly look up to and evolve with. I'm not familiar with Patrick's teaching skills, but i would be open to giving him the ball in the short run and see how it works out. ;)

What an asset he would be for price/halak.

Would be exactly what the doctor ordered.

Would be a great move,my opinion.

Well, for once can we ever get someone that shows some damm emotion behind the bench.

All we see are folding arms,& blank stares

Man,Pat burns remember his passion,Jacques Demer's.

Someone with emotion, hot head or whatever.

It can be a disadvantage in some situations. Mario Tremblay comes to mind. ;)

Looks like he's going to Colorado, thankfully. I don't want him anywhere near this team. He's a decent coach with teenagers, but I can't see him being able to properly coach adults.

I agree.

It will be interesting to see how he does - i could see him doing quite well...a few years down the road.

Wouldnt it be fitting if he cut his teeth in colorado, made the rookie mistakes & developed into a great coach...and then came here in 5 or 6 years ? :)
