ruuvimeisseli
Yay, Bob. Because our focus should really be signing smurf non-NHL centers to two-way contracts. Not, you know, actually taking care of the stuff that matters. Call this guy Janne Lahti v.2.0. my words are exactly the same. but its a win-win situation we got a young player for nothing at worst he just help the bulldogs. HabbiesMan
This signing looks promising. FART, not! Why doesn't Bob Gainey do something good for once. When is the free agency deadline anyway, anyone know?
sssfffs
We're signing Detroit's left overs. If they didn't want to keep him, then he most likely isn't that good.
Larry-Robinson
This is the problem with some of us habs fans, we are never happy with whatever Bob does. If he sign a player we all got pros and cons to every player. We make remarks of how bad a player(s) are before we ever see them play a sinle minute. If Bob is signing no one he is doing nothing, if he is signing somebody, then that player is not good enough. This is why players who are UFA's ultimately don't choose to come here. They hear the stories from other players, and from players who come out of the province of Quebec. The bashing of players has to stop before anybody is willing to give the Habs a second thought. Since we lost in the first round, I have heard nothing but complaining bout what a terrible job Bob has done and continues to do. Get over it we had a bad season, and yes I know we have had a bad decade, but without the continuing bashing of players and upper management, we will never stand a chance of getting any good players. Tanguay, and others are right now waiting to see who Gainey signs as a head coach and what the plan is going forward before signing. This is from a player who just finished a season with us. Imagine what it's like from players who haven't been here and never experienced what it's like to play here, only from the hearsay. Give Johansson as chance, he may play in the minors and if so hs contract is minimual, if not it's still only a rookie contract with bonuses. jzun00
ummm this signing is typical Gainey. Quantity not Quality. If he really wants to do something impressive, how about signing a coach with NHL experience and who has NEVER played for this organization. Oh well, I will wait to see what this guy can do. I would guess that he is nothing more than a plug for the AHL team while we transition our 10 UFA's out and our 10 AHLers up to the pro's. Someone has to play for the Bull Dogs! WTA
I definately don't see anything wrong with this signing (although I do wish he was 6 feet atleast and a little more of a scorer then a playmaker) but hey u take what u can get, like was said earlier we didn't have to give up anything, and he's still young, plus he played for the Swedish Elite League Champions which is another plus to me I just want too know one thing, is he the guy that scored that amazing shootout winner that they kept showing on TSN during the last month of the season (I'm sure it was a Swedish player)

911fred
I find it funnny... How people dont even like this signing, and they havn't even seen Johansson play yet... On top of that, we got him for free... He could play for Hamilton or Montreal... I just think it's pretty funny...

leafs_rock_go_mccabe
Those who are disappointed are just tired of seeing Gainey sign lower-tier player after lower-tier player year-in/year-out. If Johansson ever plays a game in the NHL for Montreal as more than an injury fill-in I will eat my pants. Yes, he is a no risk signing, but why can't Gainey fill in the Hamilton roster at a later date? Shouldn't he be working on finding a coach presently? Or are we handicapped because Uncle George is selling the team? 'Cause if that's the case I will just accept that we are going to suck next season on account of Gainey not being able to do anything other than sign players from European leagues. It can't be that difficult a decision 1 - he has to be bilingual Narrow it down .......before it's too late ...........again obviously they're looking at coaches or we wouldn't have heard that bykov was invited over to mtl. a lot more hinges on stabilizing ownership than the coach, imho. Or are we handicapped because Uncle George is selling the team? 'Cause if that's the case I will just accept that we are going to suck next season on account of Gainey not being able to do anything other than sign players from European leagues. i don't know how gainey's at fault for gillett deciding to sell the team at the worst possible moment. obviously, gainey's job is just as insecure as everyone else's without knowing who the owner is - what would be the point in hiring a coach if it could all change three weeks later? gillett's the goat in this situation, imho. i would've preferred to read that the team is only selling a minority share and a coach has been hired but until that happens...at least something's being done. i'm looking forward to seeing this kid play during the exhibition season. Dintrox12
Great Optimism on this thread. Johansson was impressive in 2007 -2008 he had 39 pts. while the highly touted Brunnstrom (and much sought after) had 37 pts playing for the same team. So you never know? This kid could click or he could stay in the hammer. Just a reminder UFA season does not begin until July 1. So maybe wait until then to complain about Gainey failing to sign the big names. DA_Champion
Anyone who says that D'Ags was not given enough quality ice time this season was not watching the same team as I was. That guy probably played more minutes on our top two lines this year than Tanguay. I'm sure he did, Tanguay missed half the season.
Manatee-X
I'm sure he did, Tanguay missed half the season. Are you actually saying that you didn't think D'ags got enough quality ice time this year? That's what my post was saying.
