gracie12
the nhl numbers link is good - i also like this: http://www.sportscity.com/nhl/2009-nhl-unr...ts-by-position/ it seems a little more intuative with sorting (yes you can sort the other link any way you want, but this one already starts sorted better imho). Unfortunately, the position where there is some actual quality talent is wing - lw most specifically - and we have some good quality depth there. At centre, the best players are: Mats Sundin - wont sign here. Joe Sakic - wont sign anywhere but colorado Saku Koivu familiar? Mike Comrie - locker room trouble Sergei Fedorov - old old and old Robert Lang familiar? Mike Cammalleri - smurf-like...will calgary let him go? Henrik Sedin - our best bet, but part of a package deal...and can we afford both?

flames4eva
This is a good source IMO... UFA + RFA http://www.hockeybuzz.com/cap-central/freeagents.php user friendly and sortable by position year etc.
babinator77
the nhl numbers link is good - i also like this: http://www.sportscity.com/nhl/2009-nhl-unr...ts-by-position/ it seems a little more intuative with sorting (yes you can sort the other link any way you want, but this one already starts sorted better imho). Henrik Sedin - our best bet, but part of a package deal...and can we afford both? he's already signed with the khl.
teststory
That would hurt Washington a little I think. It seems the KHL is starting to become the retirement home for players around 40 years of age. First Jagr and now Fedorov.

20cent
Thanks people. Would like to see Bouwmeester in the bleu, blanc et rouge. Not sure who else would benefit the Habs as of right now perhaps a power forward who can plow through the Bruins and whoever else gets in the way. QbGamer
Free agent list I love this site www.nhlnumbers.com I didnt realize that they had a way to sort through all the Rfa's UFa's by team/cap/salary/position. NHLNUMBERS.COM is the best site out there BY FAR the nhl numbers link is good - i also like this: http://www.sportscity.com/nhl/2009-nhl-unr...ts-by-position/ it seems a little more intuative with sorting (yes you can sort the other link any way you want, but this one already starts sorted better imho). He wasnt even that good for the Canucks.. What a horrible way to waste $, maybe a team who needs to sign a big name in the states will bite on him.. we diffently DO NOT WANT HIM

Sakik Fedrov, and Sundin are out for us, and of the centers left I'd rank them: Sedin Cammalleri Koivu Lang / Comrie (kind of a tie hockey wise) I suppose if you made a major pitch for Sedin or Cammalleri you could see a slight upgrade, but the Sedins are a big commitment and Cammealleri still has a lot of question marks. This is why people saying we need to let Koivu go need to realize he's probably about the best option we have: if he wants back I welcome him with open arms, not only because he's our Captain, but there aren't a whole lot of upgrade options. Exactly, this years UFA center market is weak. People are crying for that #1 pivot, but barring the trade for Vinny that should never happen, where is this center coming from? However as I've mentioned many times before, next year, in a decreasing cap, Savard, Marleau and Olli Jokinen are UFA's.
ruuvimeisseli
Nik Antropov Age: 29 Height: 6'6 Weight: 230 lbs. Shoots: Left Assets: Can line up at all three forward positions. Plays with poise and patience. Owns good vision and two-way smarts. Works hard and has impressive size and reach. Face off %: 40.2 Hits in 81 games: 114 or 1.41 hits per game 3 year deal (2 million dollar cap hit) 2.5--2.5--
THE_EQUALIZER
A list of UFAs I would consider signing for the big club if I was Mr. Gainey: Centre - Koivu (he'll be back even though I don't aggre with it) Left Wing - Alex Tanguay, Stephane Veilleux, Travis Moen Right Wing - Alexei Kovalev (he'll be back for better or worse), Tom Kostopolous, Chris Neil Defense - Jay Bouwmeester, Mike Komisarek, Nick Boynton, Mathieu Dandenault, Kurtis Foster, Greg Zanon, Johnny Oduya, Jason Strudwick, Denis Gauthier Goal - None

ChitownHabby
If we made a deal for both Sedins, wouldnt it make even MORE sense to keep Koivu? He'll give us a hometown discount. Don't re-sign Lang, bring back both Kovalev (slight pay cut) and Tanguay (should take a slight cut), Komi is going to leave I'm pretty sure but maybe we can get Beauchemin for 3.5-4 per season. Then we could have lines like: Daniel Sedin - Henrik Sedin - Andrei Kostitsyn Tanguay - Koivu - Kovalev Higgins - Plekanec - Sergei Kostitsyn Latendresse - Lapierre - Laraque Markov - Beauchemin Hamrlik - Weber Gorges - Denis Gauthier Price Halak I'm not going to look up salaries but I'm sure one of you will let me know shortly that I'm crazy. Habsology
Agreed. Saku is actually our best short-term center option. How about Steve Sullivan? About the same size, but with a little more jump and speed if you ask me. And not to mention a smaller hit to the pocket...

Mauro-Biello
Sullivan's a winger. Used to be a center though. If he can still take faceoffs I wouldn't mind seeing this guy for a year or two.

If Sullivan could've played center, don't you think he would've been at least tried when in Nahsville at times Radek Bonk was their #2 and when Arnott went down at times their #1? concreteveins
Now that the season is officially over, I am just curious to see what the expectations are by Montreal fans this summer. To be as realistic as possible please vote and comment for what you think will happen, not what you want to happen. I believe that our defense will be suspect again this year, but that most of the young players will flourish under a coach like Martin. I fully expect to have all of the RFA's signed including Higgins and Plekanec. I don't expect a huge signing or trade but I believe that lower key players like Boynton or Beauchemin will be acquired. I fully expect Komisarek to sign elsewhere and believe that Gainey will push hard to re-acquire Kovalev and Tanguay.
