tominsky
this is very interesting! How would you compare your home in Tampa Bay and your home in Montreal? – Justine I actually don't have a home in Montreal. I don't own anything there, I rent every time I go there, but I'm looking for something in the future, possibly this summer. http://www.vinny4.com/askvinny.php
DA_Champion
We have such a historic opportunity to build through the free agent market, and there's the deepest draft in a generation. Please, let's not give up everything for some bad trades.

Please, let's not give up everything for some bad trades. I think the key to anything with lecavalier is based on the talks that happened last fall where the rumors (mostly confirmed in principle now) focused on Higgins, Plekanec, Jorges (or PK Subban) and pick(s). If Montreal Balked at this then I believe there may be a deal to be had - i.e. we may not have to give up as much as we think because TB is clearly trying to get some young affordable talent AND dump salary. If Tampa Bay Balked at it, opting for Markov (as some rumors suggest) then its more likely we'd have to give up too much to get lecavalier. The way I look at the whole lecavalier situation is this: 1) what will it cost us in players/picks 2) what will it cost us in cap space. now, obviously we know the answer to #2 and while his cap space isnt horrible for the next 5-7 years ($7m a season for a truly elite centre aint bad) it is going to most likely look horrible when he's in his late 30s (unless selanne and/or lang share their fountain-of-youth-water-bottles with him). so for me, #1 is the key. If we can get Lecavalier for spare parts (sorry higgins) and prospects/picks, I do it in a heartbeat. If they want markov its a no brainer: no thanks. I wasn't the biggest Markov guy myself for the past few years, I thought he was lazy and often careless with the puck. While he still confuses me with some weird decision making on the ice, its clear he's the habs best D man offering offensive upside and consistent defensive play. However for Vinny...I'd give up pretty much anyone else to get him. Why not? He's a pure goal scorer, from Montreal, won a cup...get him.
HockeyMan86
oh god....i know the reasons why montreal SHOULD get him. Yes hes won a cup hes a big center hes pretty good using his size and has put up pretty good numbers BUT one of the reasons HE SHOULD NOT be traded for is because hes french. im sorry but we NEED to sway away from this line of thinking. We also have to think about what we CAN give up to get him? To be honest we have almost nothing to package without offering up markov which we should NOT DO. If your going to trade for vinny and god would i love to have him we would be offering up a 1st markov and one of our top defence prospects ATLEAST. He is not worth trading all out assets for when we can easily draft smart and build from with in and sign UFA's. If we trade for vinny we would be looking like TB as of right now. Having a super star but no one for him to play with AND also missing one our of best defencemen sorry but no i dont want vinny at the price TB is asking for and lets not forget vinny has a dang bad contract 11 years? sorry but no thanks. A-K-46
his contract is a major issue maybe if bg can renegociate the contract to something like 8 years at 8 mill that is more reasonabe
AK-1
his contract is a major issue maybe if bg can renegociate the contract to something like 8 years at 8 mill that is more reasonabe you can't renegociate contracts under the new CBA. HockeyMan86
lol im sorry but his contract is just way too long yes i would like him in montreal but his contract is probably the most ugliest contract in the NHL today. Hes also coming off a surgery so his physical capibilities are in question....

habsmakemeproud
I would take vinny and his contract as long as the deal does not include Markov, we cannot afford to lose a Markov who can

HockeyMan86
true but hes coming off a surgery so thats a big question mark. vive-latendresse
I can tell you that Vinny is in Montreal now. My friend works at Le Club de Golf de Laval-Ouest (where the Canadiens go play golf at september, just before the training camp). He [Lecavalier] spoke with Vincent Damphouse about some things in Montreal. I don't know which ones but I know he has a house that is going to be build for 2 M$... If that is only for the summer, wow he doesn't know how to spend his money!! I'm here if you have other money Vinny =D!! So I don't know if that means something, but we'll see during the draft!! Let's hope and let's dream!! Go Vinny Go!
catt-_mtlc
There are just too many rumors and coincidences at this point. It might be wishful thinking but I think Vinny will be a Hab come this Saturday. The question is will be bounce back from injury and perform and live up to that monster contract. If he doesn't the fans will ride him all season and it could get ugly.
billy-piton
c'mon people, this guy will be earning 1.8m more than henrik zetteberg for the next 11 years! i would offer 7th round draft pick to tampa bay and thats it. no spare parts, no prospects. his contract is so ridiculous and they should be happy anyone is willing to take it. vive-latendresse
Well... He's a star, and his contrat is a star contract!! Gaborik will make around 8 M$ next year, so I really prefer a 10 M Lecavalier than a 8 M Gaborik! And since how much time does the team need a #1 BIG center? 14 - 15 years! And Vinny is from Quebec too so that's why we want him and he's top 10 player in the league!
