habs-transaction-genius
Too much money we absorbed in this deal. Although I think Gomez is more experienced I thInk Gomez isn't what he use to be with the Devils. and I definetly dont think that Gomez is our answer to a 1st line center why is he not the center, name 1 guy in this free agency that would have been better

But, it's not just any prospect. It's our TOP prospect. Yeah... I was just trying not to be so disappointed.

I would say Subban past him this year on the charts...but given that we are taking the bad contract we should have also got the prospect!! wow I dont know what to expect tomorrow but we will need a lot of help I think

habs-transaction-genius
how do you know he wanted out?? i found out from an inside source that higgins wanted out and i can only say that it is because of a few fan comments while he was eating supper
Brisebois
Thanks Bob for ruining this organization. I have no problem with trading away Higgins or using McDonagh in a trade but not for Gomez. He has a bad contract and doesn't improve the team. Fire Gainey now!
roy_133
But, it's not just any prospect. It's our TOP prospect. He has regressed a bit, living on name (he's still a fine prospect) but even Timmins basically said they weren't thrilled with his development (not in so many words). So I guess that explains moving him. I don't care for this trade at all, though. Even if McD has regressed, having to expand on a Higgins - Gomez deal is nonsensical. Gomez basically has negative value.

TheBlaster_mtl
If Gomez were a free agent, and Bob had signed him at this price without giving anything up at all, it still would have been a bad move.
Rocket-1
Wait a minute..... this is the worst trade in recent history since..... since.... the Mike Ribeiro for Jaani Niniima or whatever his name str8 up Let's be proud, we have the top 2 of the worst trades in a long time within our team! sssfffs
Gainey's playing NHL09 Dynasty Mode. I bet NYR offered him a deal similar to this and he said OMG THATS FAIR lets do it in RL too
Habsforlifee
As much as I hate the contract, we are giving up a 35-40 point guy for a 60- 75 point guy on the immediate roster. Considering nobody wants to come play here it might just work out. Sucks losing MCD but something had to be done. We have piles of cap space to play with and trading say koivu and kovelev's contract for gomez while giving a rookie a chance might be fine. Hell I dont think either way where we stand will make a difference.
