Strength isn't everything but i do agree with you that we are small and need size down the middle. Maybe plecs won't be returning and we are grabbing a bigger center in antropov? hes cheap but hes big and im almost certain the 5.2m hes looking for he aint gonna get. so enough with the "oh god we are going to get clobbered by the big bad bruins their so big and strong" they had ONE good season we have beaten them in so many seasons so keep your chin up dude things will fall into the place and lets bash BG for getting hal gill lol

Not just focusing on the bruins, but they are in our confrence and may have to be seen to reach the prize 8 games or not
jlgib21
um..... I'm a little worried... Cammalleri - 5'9" 185lb Gomez - 5'11" 220lb Gionta - 5'7" 175lb We're even smaller and softer up front than before ,if that's possible. I like the Camm. signing.Gomez trade we got fleeced, and gionta signing is a joke
sens27
Actually, today proves exactly why Gainey was at fault the past five years. Every day for the past three years, I've heard on this forum that poor Bob Gainey can't sign big names. It's not his fault. It's the city, the weather, the taxes, the language barrier, the fans, the summer roadwork, the preponderance of festivals, etc. etc. But lookie here -- when push came to shove and he had no choice but to sign players because he let half our team hit free agency at the same time, surprise! He succeeded (with Cammalleri, at least). So the next time someone says Gainey's hands are tied, I will respond only with a facepalm image of some kind. Very very good point. I like the Camm. signing.Gomez trade we got fleeced, and gionta signing is a joke I wouldn't say that we're any softer up front, I would say in terms of toughness it's relatively the same, but I will admit that Koivu probably had more heart than any of the players we picked up today. But I wouldn't say that we got fleeced on the Gomez trade, you need to give up something to get something and as for Gionta I wouldn't call it a joke, he was very successful with Gomez in New Jersey. Another thing too is that everyone just automatically assumes that our 1st line will be Cammalleri, Gomez and Gionta I'll admit it's possible and very likely Gomez and Gionta will be together but ultimately it depends on what Martin sees in training camp. I still do have some worry about our size but in the past we have been succesful by playing fast paced game, that's how we beat the Bruins night night out and when we got away from that style this past year we got nowhere against them. WE GOT FLEECED But Gomez and Gionta lit it up together 5 years ago.I'm being sarcastic of course.Gomez was a salary dump, and Sather found a mark in BG. Gomez' numbers are basically the same as koivu's except he makes $3m more . I'd rather have Kovy or Tang instead of Gionta. His production has gone down the last few years.. How are we going to compete with Philly,TO,Bost etc. with all these smurfs.

WE GOT FLEECED I can't read this without laughing im sorry but gaborik? injury prone played around 20 games last season and is being paid 7.5m a season for 5 years and has only hit the 80 point mark once in his career? we might have got a bit fleeced on the deal for gomez but the rangers made another mistake signing a huge contract to gaborik in my eyes watch gaboriks groin get hurt again and hes on the IR only after 20 games or so. If we traded hammer for picks, we would be left with 16 mil. Could we then sign Beauchemin, Tanguay, kovy for under 12 mil and have 4 mil to sign our rfas? I do not see a point in resigning tanguay we have our play maker in gomez now weather you like it or not hes here to stay.Paying tanguay 5m+ to play second line duties makes no sense.I also don't think we have 10.5m left in cap space...something around like 7-8m.We have to resign the RFA's that we need and im guessing kovy is waiting for that also so BG can send a offer that is not 4m but will probably take a pay cut since he says he wants to stay in montreal so bad. As for koivu id like to see him back but a part of me also says hes done in montreal we are trying to change the face of the franchise and i am afraid it starts with koivu even tho he is the heart and soul of this team but drastic changes must be made coming off such a bad season. As for beauchimin its a tough call if hes asking for above 4m we hang up the phone but something tells me if we do get beauchemin the hal gill signings wouldn't make sense. markov - beauchamin hamrlik - gorges spacek - webber or spacek can play with hamrlik and gorges with webber. but who knows bob is crazy this off season who knows what he will do. Oh forgot don't we have to resign plecs? so yeah maybe koivu has room to come back who knows.
e209
beauchemin is a 6'0 29 year old with a carrer -4 on the ducks of all teams he will be lucky to get 1.5. he also tore his acl last year and has no offensive output
the-o-byrne-files
I really don't think that the moves we are making are really doing us any good. We got SWEPT by the ***** bruins because of Price. We all know that goaltending is the ONLY position that matters so untill we address that issue we will be just like any other team which is unacceptable.
