pitbull12
Welcome to the Habs! I am happy he is on the good side now, I was sick of seeing him bombing slapshots past Price.
JoshGorgesFan
I've seen him play against us a few times, but other than that I've seen, and know very little about him. He's not that young so he can also bring some veteran viewpoints and guidance to the defensive core I guess? Wonder who he'll pair up with to start the season... But like you said carey31price, I'm glad he's on the good side now!

roy_133
Welcome aboard a new # 6 ? When I first read that, I wasn't thinking and I thought you were implying a new number 6 defenseman not jersey number lol.

As carey31price said, it'll be a lot better than having him play against us. I agree that he is underrated. A very good player and excellent signing. koreysecord1992
The off-season move I'm most pleased with. Spacek will hopefully be that PP QB we so sorely missed last year. I don't he him putting up 45 points in Montreal, though.

LeafHater
seems like he could be part of the missing link on defence. his points over the years are acceptable and his +\- isn't bad either except for the three years he spent with the blue jackets (2001-2004) I guss we'll have to see how it goes but so far i think this could be a good addition as long as it works out everywhere else on the ice as well
Flunky
Of all the recent FA acquisitions, this is the only one that I'm reasonably pleased with. On the upside, Spacek should provide the Habs with a veteran blue-line presence, and take some of the offensive blueline pressure off Markov, at least until Weber or Carle are ready for primetime. Jaro's 45 points last year tied his career high (which is quite unusual for his age), but I think he should be somewhere in that neighbourhood again this coming year, considering he is the frontrunner to pair up with Markov on the first PP unit. Plus, it's always good to take a player off a division rival (see Ryder, Komisarek). On the downside, he's 35 years old and will be closer to 36 by the time the season starts. And we overpaid for him big time. Obviously Montreal's tax situation forces them to pay players more on a yearly basis to compensate for the increased loss of income playing in Quebec, so I understand the inflated annual salary of $3.8 and change. I don't like it, but I get it. What frightens me is the length of the contract for a player that age. Three years is a long time and Spacek ain't exactly an Iron Man candidate. He played a full season (80/82 games) last year, but missed significant portions of the two preceeding seasons in Buffalo, and has missed a total of 69 games due to injury in the past four seasons (prior to last year) for an average of 17.25 man-games lost per season. Ouch. Hopefully last year's healthy campaign was not an aberration, and Jaro will give us three full, relatively injury-free seasons for our money. And finally, there's the question of nicknames. With a last name like Spacek, I'll be satisfied with SPACEKowboy or even SPACEKadet. Let's just hope it doesn't become "Sissy".
habsnyc
is spacek at 3.8 million better than streit at 4.1 million? streit is younger and has better numbers but i do not know if spacek is a better defenseman.

nightmare3020
As a Habs fan living in Columbus, Ohio...I got to see him play for the Blue Jackets. I think he will be a good fit for the Habs. While he isn't much of a scorer, he is a strong defenceman who can play the point on the power play if needed. I'm excited to see how he will do in the Habs uniform. brazinrasin
If he plays with Markov on the PP, Spacek will have more space than he knows what to do with. Opponents will be preoccupied with stopping Markov's cross seam pass and neutralizing the talent down low that Jaro should get lots of open looks.
