Scott92
This off-season, we have already seen some of our beloved Habs leave us as well as have some new favourites join. I would say we roughly know what our team will look like opening day, with just a few pieces left up in the air. How do you expect the lines to unfold this season, and for later on in the year how will they change? With that all being said, you all know how this thread works! Discuss and as always, GO HABS GO. Obyrne imo is garbage, Lets see if he can improve on his stupid penalty taking/discipline. He also needs to work on his puck moving skills up the middle and start using his size to his advantage instead of playing like a smaller player and taking undisciplined penaltys. He needs to become faster.

O byrne isnt garbage sorry he needs to work on a few things hes also still young also why does S kost even deserve to be on the 1st line? lapierre is a third line center at best and you have him as a wing on the second line....gill on the 2nd pairing when gorges is clearly better then gill? pacioretty as a center while chips is a right winger? im sorry but your lines make no sense to me.... Bean-Counting-Hab
I can imagine a lot of different line-ups that work, but here we go (didn't worry about who plays which wing): Gionta-Gomez-Patches D'Ags-Cammi-A. Kost S.Kost-Plek-Chip Latts-Laps-Stuart Spares: Laroque, Metro Markov-Georges Hammer-Spacek Gill - Webber Spare: Obyrne (platooning with Webber) Forwards: Lines 1 and 2: 2 scoring lines, both fast as hell, who will play in the dirty areas line 1 features 2 great 2 way players in Gionta and Gomez, so no worries against other top lines Line 3: Shutdown line that can also provide some solid secondary scoring. When we want a pure shutdown line, substitute in Metro for S.Kost and let S.Kost take Stuart's spot. Line 4: Uprade over last year's successful 3rd line (see Stuart for Kosto). Should control the boards and get some great cycles going in the offensive zone. Can substitute Laraque for Stuart when necessary to create a French Grind Line. Defense: 1st pair: I think George played his best hockey when paired with Markov while Komi was hurt and most nights found them more effective than Komi + Markov. I wouldn't mind seeing him given the chance and if it doesn't work out, move up Spacek instead. 2nd pair: 2 veterans with solid 2 way games. Prety sure they're buddies too. Spacek gets more ice time as he is on the #1 PP with Markov. 3rd pair: I think we're all a little leary about Gill with a rooky, but he plays a defensively responsible simple game which should have a calming influence on whoever he's paired with. He may be extremely slow but he is positionally sound and uses his body, and especially his stick very well. He was often matched against top offensive players during the Pens cup run so he should be able to handle 3rd pairing duties. Anyway, this pair gets limited 5on5 time. Webber gets #2 unit powerplay time, Gill gets lots of PK time.
HabsFan14Seabass
Just throwing this out there......but why doesn't anybody believe P.K Subban could make the cut? He is a highly skilled defenceman and in my mind, is way better than O'Byrne
fourtrax
Cammalleri-Gomez-Gionta: No fooling around. Get your three high-priced off-season acquisitions together and unleash. Give them the big minutes in all situations. Latendresse-Plekanec-AK46: Give these guys at least 20 games to gel. Hopefully this is the year when Lats can cement his position in the top-six. Pacioretty-Lapierre-SK74: Kid line with a good mix of speed, grit, and forechecking tenacity. Under Martin, the wingers would ideally learn how to play a responsible two-way game. Stewart-Metropolit-Chipchura: Checking line that becomes an agitating line as and when Laraque rotates in for Chips. Markov-O'Byrne: Let's see if we can't turn O'Byrne into Komisarek v2.0. Hamrlik-Spacek: Czech vets, unite! Gorges-Gill: Gorges's puck movement and quickness should complement Gill's size and reach and prevent the pairing from being exploited by speed down low (this is why I don't want Gill and O'Byrne together). I'm all for preppeing Ob for a bigger role, but remember that saying you had last year, CARBONNEAU YOU MORON THERES A MIDDLEGROUND BETWEEN TOP 4 MINUTES AND PRESSBOX. Well thats what I'm looking at here, maybe put Spacek on the 1st pairing, Hammer with Gorges and have OB with Gill, spot him on the Pk occasionally, and promote him if he plays well.
