koreysecord1992
An icon of my childhood. With this being Selanne's final year and Koivu playing elsewhere it's going to be a strange year indeed.

Still, one heck of a player - i still remember those first few years in Quebec...there was Joe scoring 100+ pts & the next best point total on the team would be like 22. lol. SteenIsThaFuture
To no surprise, the Avs plan to retire Sakic's number at the home opener of this year.

Kubby31
Gentleman Joe, a great player and class act all the way. What more can one say. Unbelievable hockey player, one of the all-time class acts to come along. Remember the yr when he just won the cup, first thing he does after receiving it from bettman, was to pass it to Ray Bourke,WOW. Always thought of others first. His accomplishments throughout his 20 yrs in hockey is extraordinary, outstanding what he has brought & done for the game. Heard that there's plans to retire his #. Good for him,it was awesome to watch Sakic play the game,he so much loved. Congrats Joe.
Rayzor123
A horrible end to a hall of fame player's career. A stupid snow blower. It sucks. Sakic did a lot for the game. He is definitely going to be in the Hall Of Fame in a few years. Congratulations on the great career, Joe.
SteenIsThaFuture
To anyone who didn't watch the retirement ceremony you missed one heck of a event. A fitting end to an flawless career, when Woody Paige is making a speech about hockey in Denver, you know you've done something special. I'm dissapointed hes not going to the Olympics, and that he said he will not pursue a future in coaching (because he sure as heck ain't a media guy). I could see him joining management as an advisor, or stay with the Avs in some aspect.

franck5890
It's sad to see Sakic go; especially sad to not see him on Team Canada this year. He's been such a stalwart on that squad that it'll take a year or two to get used to his absence, no doubt. And, I think the thing I loved most about him was his unmatched class.
