jrogal
Back to back championships, will we ever see that again from the Habs? Thoughts? What will it take for us to get there? Was anyone around for these cup runs who can remember watching the Habs or going to the games?
Rocket-1
1976 habs, regular season 60 wins 8 lost 12 ties. Lafleur with 132 pts 56 goals 80 assists Shutt with 105 pts 60 goals 45 assists The habs lost 2 games during the playoffs that year. Do you seriously think will ever see anything close to that again? Kubby31
Back to back championships, will we ever see that again from the Habs? I think it's safe for me to say....NOT IN MY REMAINING LIFETIME Damm.I'd be tickled pink if they would just one more championship, before I sign out for good Ahhhhhhh, the glory yrsssss, they were the best, weren't they. Beeblejam
Things are certainly different now. It's harder to build a dynasty with 30 teams and a salary cap. The Penguins have managed to draft what could well be a dynasty though, so it can still be done.
jrogal
I don't think we'll ever see such dominance again, but back-to-back championships can happen. The Penguins have a great shot at the cup again, and the Wings were damn close to making it happen this year. When will our Habs do it? Was anyone around for the 1970s runs? habsfan512
I remember those teams vividly. Was great to watch. Boston and Philly were the guys we loved beating. I think in that season 8 losses and the following one if memory serves 10 or so losses the one team that was a problem was TO. If you could call less than 20 losses in two seasons a problem. They were also cardiac kids. First period would get badly outplayed, Dryden would have to show up big time but we were generally behind after 1 - Period 2 would be good- about even then Period 3 would be lights out. No deficit was too much to overcome. Stanley cup parade was the "usual route". Great time to be a habs fan but must have been awful for the other cities. Always the same people winning year after year. And do not forget there were tie games in there as well - none now.
FanofLafleur
The memories of my childhood. Remember these images on hockey cards?
habsfan512
I think I had all those- Dryden's card with the Conn Smythe as well - Also used Bobby Orr cards and Espo cards between the spokes of my bike (they were Boston after all) - opee chee cards with bubble gum - think about that one yikes
habsfanfla
I remember those great teams of the late seventies...every year I would bet with my brothers both of whom didn't like the Canadiens, one was a Blackhawks fan.the other liked the Islanders. The bet would be $20 I had the Canadiens, and gave them everyone else to win the Cup....ahh, the money I made.......
