detritus
I was hoping somebody would be able to help me out. I have the option to pick up NHL center ice, or RDS. Seeing as my french only extends to grade 11, which occured 10 years ago, french is not my forte. Hence my preference for Center Ice. Some people though, have told me that center ice will only carry games that are broadcasted outside of Quebec. Is this true? Or will I be able to watch all 82 games (with center ice), with center ice picking up english feeds when available, but RDS's french feeds when not available? Thanks

I do not understand/speak french, but was the only way for me to watch all 82 hab games. Then, last season, picked up center ice, have no issuses with it. Cannot answer your question regarding broadcasts only outside of Quebec. I noticed though,if for instance TSN is airing a habs game, center ice is blacked out for that game. Hope this info helps. Thanks Center ice blocks all Habs game on the Quebec territory. If you're outside QC, you'll get games but I dont know that you'll get all 82. Last winter, I was on a trip in Florida, and a Habs-Pens game was on but blacked out on Center Ice online. If you really want all 82 games, go with RDS. The French issue shouldn't be too bad. I mean, how much verbiage do you really need to be able to enjoy a hockey game? You'll quickly catch on "Gomez à Markov, à Cammalleri devant le filet, le tir et le but!" while watching the red ticker bar that shows 1:29 left on the power play
gunner_canadian
Good news for Rogers digital cable subscribers that RDS HD is now available to customers. CBC can keep their widescreen upconverted garbage that they pass off as HD as far as I'm concerned. I wouldn't be surprised if the Friday December 4th game against the Bruins which marks the Habs official 100th birthday gets picked up by CBC. If not it would likely go to TSN as they wouldn't want this special occasion to be passed over by English television. I am so happy....I must have wrote like 10,000 e-mails to them to get it....8.99 a month is well worth it for RDS HD
Varrus
Wait, what? What $8.99? You mean it's not part of the HD package and I have to pay an addition $9 to get RDS HD? Or am I misunderstanding?

WesternWill
The broadcast schedule, if they follow the same pattern as last year, should be releaed either tomorrow or Friday. It was released on August 13th last year and with the season starting almost a full week earlier this year, the tv schedule must be coming very soon! That is correct, the date was August 13, 14 and it was a Thursday. I just phoned the CBC after I read your post and was told that the national schedule will be released very soon. No specific date was mentioned. The lady told me that the full schedule including the regional games, will be released in September. That is the same pattern as last year. ZetPaul
Well, is there anywhere to watch the pre-season games at all?
johnnyhab-eo1
how much? It's between $6 and $8 per month on top of your regular bill. Should be better this season now that HD is finally available in Ontario.
ColRouleBleu
Well, is there anywhere to watch the pre-season games at all? Last year TSN showed 2 and RDS showed 2 others IIRC so I guess we'll be able to see a few again this year. Other than that, la Cage aux Sports shows them all (Canadiens in house feed) but I'm not sure if it's in all their locations or only in the Montréal area. bell75
Yes it would be! I think there was only 1 last year...not sure about this year. Its too bad they don't broadcast the pre-season games, it gives the young players more exposure and the fans get to peak into the future a bit. Also, for those that don't watch the Bulldogs (me included) it would help in making more realistic line combination possibilities and to better understand the organizations growth path. Not to mention, there would be hockey earlier!
choupette
RDS are airing 4 out of 7 of the Habs preseason games in HD! I'd imagine TSN will pick up a game too like they did last year.

xTybe_mtl
Man ive been calling my cable provider like once a week asking for RDS HD (they know me by name now lol but I want them to know there is demand) But they say adding new hd channels is expensive blah blah and there has to be enough interest and HD content shown on the channel for them to consider it. Im with a local hamilton cable provider, and i love them, a million times better than my bell experience for tv, phone, and internet (no throttling, no caps.. wooo) Im grateful that they include RDS in the regular sports pack, so i dont have to pay extra just to have that single channel, but they keep telling me theres not enough interest for it right now, but theyll probably get it eventually. But as for their other point, does RDS show alot of HD content?? Or is it basically only habs games in hd and not much else (sorta like leafs tv.. the only thing in hd is the leaf games)
