Brian Skrudland I miss Nilan... Anyone catch the YouTube clip of him on Habs I/O? He was arrested for shoplifting bathing suits, lol. Why didn't he just punch out the security guard who tried to stop him? Good 'ol Mats, he was my favorite Hab during the 80's. So many players had the #15, I'm surprised you chose Smith. What a great center he was, I think we got him from Minnesota (North Stars). Here's my list 1:Plante 2:Nyrop (solid d-man during the 70's) 3:Engblom 4:Beliveau (who else, there was only one #4) 5:Lapointe/Green 6:Courtnall/Mondou (still remembered when he had his injury, Naslund was never the same after Mondou retired) 7:Morenze 8:Recchi/Turcotte(for some reason I really like Alfie) 9:Maurice "The Rocket" Richard 10:Lafleur 11:Koivu/Muller/Walter (very good scorer, til they put him on a checking line) 12:Cournoyer/Acton (the brat) 13:Tanguay 14:Linden/Bonk (was really finding his game when he was paired up with Johnson, too bad they let em both go) 15:Smith/Samsonov (too bad it didn't click in Montreal, people forget he was rookie of the year in Boston) 16:Henri "Pocket Rocket" Richard/Elmer Lach 17:Ludwig (all the way, stay at home d-man, but played an important role on our blueline throughout the 80's) 18:Savard 19:Robinson 20:Hunter/Zednik/Dahlin 21:Carbo 22:Steve Shutt (best left winger we had) 23:Gainey (they created a trophy to honor him, Russians called him the best player they'd ever faced) 24:Chelios (all the way) 25:Svoboda/Damphousse 26:Mats Naslund/Rucinsky 27:Chartraw/Kovalev/Frank Mahovlich 28:Desjardins (who else) 29:Dryden 30:Nilan/Tony Esposito (entered the league with us, but traded him away to make room for a young goalie called Dryden, Hmmmm, wonder if we would've been just as good if we had kept Tony. Was amazing for Chicago) 31:Napier/Hackett/Price 32:Lemieux/Streit 33:Roy/Sevigny (nit just clicked that they shared the same number) 34:Popovic? 35:Moog/McPhee/Brashear 36:Todd Ewen (Nilan's replacement, tough kid) 37:Steve Penney (being a goalie growing up, I really liked Penney, until Roy stole his job and became my favorite) *Wonder if anyone chose Racicot as #37 He does come to mind, but not in a good way. 38:Lalor/Malakhov(big d-man, didn't last long, pity) 39:Jablonski/Hip-Hip-Huet/Skrudland (we really had a lot of good d-men in the 80's) 40:Lapierre 41:Halak/Thibo (another promising goalie we ruined) 42:?????? No one worth mentioning 43:Wasn't Brisebois 43 when he 1st joined us? Habs History dashboard says there weren't any players with #43 44:Souray/Hamrlik 45:Dionne 46:A Kostitsyn 47:Lebeau - Had to put someone at #47 48:JJ Daigneault 49:Savage 50: No #50 according to Habs History Dashboard I guess I'll end there... Hmmmm, if I was playing right now, I'd chose #50. Only cos there hasn't been anyone else who wore that number for us. I wonder how many more numbers we have that have never been worn. Btw, these aren't necessarily my favorite players, just the player that comes to mind when I hear that number (just like the post says).

Pretty good picks but I would put Gainey as a checker and Nilan as a enforcer along with John Ferguson ( probably the toughest of all time ) .
