This is funny on so many levels!

Opening night injuries!

Out 3-4 months and possibly career ending!

Can anyone say Robert Lang!!

Langs wasn't even career ending... And his was only career threatening because he was slow to begin with and he was old... Markov isn't old and still has lots of speed... Oh and its not the same injury... Read a biology book

no panic for the team, i'm sure they'll find a way to make things work ... so what you ask? well, 4 more months of not being able to see my favorite player play... he's not been traded/let go so i cant watch him play on another team, he just friggin doesn't play at all... THAT is my big deal :P

Well I'm thinking, since he'll be in the bleachers anyway, why don't you send him an extra ticket to your fantabulous window seats?

Then you could really call it your Markovfest... :P

Maybe Brisbois will unretire, like Farve, or maybe Gainey has made enough changes to insulated the team against one major player getting hurt, after all it's part of the game. Gainey is not going to sell the future for 3 months of games considering there is a two week Olympic break which no games will be played. And just think now he won't be playing for Russa team Canada caught a break.

I like Markov a lot (favorite player) but a team should not relly that much on one player, however how good he is. Too risky. This team has proved many times it can't win without Markov and it's not normal. It's a depth issue that should be a major concern.

I hope Spacek will step up big time. We didn't have him last season and he should ease the pain, but expect the team to strugle big time. Even if him and Hammer play at the best of their capacity, we probably need to make a trade.

We should target a team loaded at defense (puck moving defenseman) like Edmonton (who is looking for some offense).

If you could land Cam Barker for Halak and Sk right now that would be a doen deal for me....Cam Could fit right in to Markov role and we would not miss a beat on the back end...He is 6.3 and can skatem has good vision and is only 23....he is like Boumeister

If we could get him for only those 2, I would jump all over it. I like Halak, but he is no where near Barker, who reached 40 points in 60 games last season (close to that). Not sure about his defensive play from what I read, but he would provide offense from the back end. And he is only 23.

But I doubt Chicago would do such a thing, even with their cap problem.

I beleive Dandy/Bouillion are still unsigned..

No way can they ever replace Markov, but they are 2 D who know the town, Would love to come back even if it was for the league minimum 500k

Better then some rookie. Id say anyways

I thought Bouillon signed. Can't remember with who though. Besides, they wouldn't be able to do any more than Webber. Markov will be missed but I don't feel the solution is getting players that couldn't crack our lineup. Let's use the ones we have and hope that they step it up.

McGuire saying BG should be trying to trade Halak/S.Kost for Cam Barker and another player.

Are you serious? If this was even a possibility I would do it in a heartbeat.

I like Halak & I still think we can work things out with SK but lets face it, chances are Halak is never going to get a fair shot here & there's still a good chance SK will never amount to more than a 40pt player.

Barker, on the other hand, is 23 years old, 6' 3" 222lbs, fast, good mobility, scored 40pts in 68 games last year and is one of the best young defensmen in the league. He is a sure-fire top 3, maybe a top 2...and McGuire thinks we can get him for a backup goalie with potential (sounds like Matthieu Garon) and a disgruntled winger?

Deal.

Boullion signed with the Trashers. Dandy was offered a tryout with SJ but couldnt crack their (stellar) lineup (no real surprise). I agree, there's no real point in signing one of these guys. A guy like Mat Schneider, were he available, or Zubov, had he not gone to the KHL would have been ideal. Someone who used to play an elite game but is now slowing down. A guy who probably, for a few months, could take on a heavy load, but likely couldnt keep it up over the whole season.

Predators I think.

Definitely think SK has the potential to be more than a 40 point guy (scored at a 43 point pace in his rookie season as a 21 year old) I definitely agree that trade would be a no brainer.

I do agree that he most likely can be more than a 40 pt guy - will he be, i dont know - but I think almost any GM in the league would trade a 50 or even 60 point guy for a 23 year old, huge, fast, puck moving defensman who's already put up great numbers in his first full nhl season.

No way we can get Barker for SK & Halak. But if we can: DO IT BOB!!
