This is terrible... Hopefully Harmlik is better soon, and O'Byrne is going to HAVE to step up.

Get well soon, Marky, and we look forward to having you back for our playoff run :-)

I hope we will be fine, expect Bob to make a trade

If things don't go well he probably well, it is possible that someone like Weber or even Subban could come and fill in that role, but I still think that they're different types of players. I'm not really sure about Subban's style but I know it's been mentioned that Weber is kinda like Streit with the big shot.

bad news indeed but i am not as worried as i was last year. imo we are a better defensive unit than we used to be & as i posted earlier on another thread Weber may be able to replace Markov's offensive ability on the PP only (not at even strength) the good news is maybe his injuries woes will be over with early this year & he'll be ready for a LONG playoff run.

YAY! I'm the first in here :D

Here's to another great season by the Dark Knight, cant wait to see him in action again.

Markie, please stay healthy all season for heaven's sake! :P See ya at the Bell soon (or in some opponents' arena) :D

This is funny on so many levels!

Opening night injuries!

Out 3-4 months and possibly career ending!

Can anyone say Robert Lang!!

Well, since Lang is back playing and it happened near the end of the season I wouldn't exactly say, "Robert Lang". No one ever claimed there was the slightest possiblity it was career ending so I wouldn't start jumping the gun. From replays it appears the heal of Prices skate went through the tongue of Marky's. Better to get sliced there than the achilles that's for sure. Get well soon Marky!

Its part of the same tendon Lang tore in his ankle.

I'll start by saying that I know absolutely nothing about anatomy, but since Lang's injury was to the back of his leg and Markov's is to the front of his ankle... I think it's safe to say this is probably not true ;)

Better now, than at the end of the season and heading into the playoffs.

Let's be honest here, without Markov for this span of time our chances of making the playoffs are in SERIOUS jeopardy.

Flesh wound and severed tendon are not quite in the same category my friend.

This was reported as being MAJOR surgery.

Your source-"Markov underwent surgery overnight in a Toronto hospital to repair the slice tendon, and RDS had confirmed that he will be out for 3-4 months"

TSN-"Markov had a surgery on Thursday night following the game in Toronto to repair the laceration to his ankle."

NHL.com, TO G&M-"According to the Toronto Globe and Mail Web site, Markov spent the night in a Toronto-area hospital where he was operated for a sliced tendon in his left leg."

Sportsnet.ca-"Canadiens defenceman Andrei Markov underwent surgery to repair tendon damage on Thursday night and will be out of action for at least two months."

Montrea Gazette-"Canadiens defenceman Andrei Markov underwent surgery to repair tendon damage on Thursday night and will be out of action for at least two months, according to reports on Friday."

I can go on but I don't think I'll locate that MAJOR surgery you are talking about.

:( x 1,000,000.

I guess Yannick Weber or P.K. Subban are going to get called up. Part of my hopes it's P.K., but perhaps Yannick is the more defensively sound option. Either way, Batman needs some help while he's on the shelf. Who's going to be Robin?
