I agree with your assessment that sometimes he rushes shot and doesn't make great decisions but with that being said Anderson has had a great start and threw up some very good looking numbers last season. Patience Gui, patience! Gui could've had two goals last night if he would have held on to the puck a little longer and waited for the goalie to make a move! How many times does he ruin a good PP set up because he gets the puck down low and immeadiatly skates to the front of the net to take an awful shot right on the goalie...Or how many times does he go for his wrap-around with his legendary speed (I remember him scoring once on a wrap around on about 500 tries). Halak has also put up some decent numbers but he is no starting goaltender IMO! On the play that I am speaking of, Anderson was down, already, it would have taken one more step to get around him, instead, Gui throws the puck into his crest! It would be nice if the 3rd line found the net as our team really needs offensive help. Is there something wrong with Gui? Or something wrong with Lapierre? Or something wrong with the 3rd member of the line as it just doesn't seem to be doing much good. They don't seem to be doing much bad either but invisible is not a good thing. He's playing solid on our third line, doesn't cost the team and has as much trouble as the next guy finding his role in the new system. Latendresse is not responsible for the problems this team has and should be the least of our concerns right now IMO. The only criticism I have is that I'd like to see some PP production, seeing he's getting regular icetime in that department. But again, he's not the only guy this applies to. No, in 07-08 he had the exact same start (1 goal 0 assists first 7 games). Last year he started better offensively but he was also playing with Koivu and Tanguay because Higgins was hurt.
