Lynch_mtl
Well, I am no longer on the side of the argument that argues that we should have a young player like Chips in his place. He did a really good job tonight, and I hope the Metro keeps it up.
pitbull12
Not going to lie when I say Metro skate out for the PP I was thinking oh no Carbo is behind the bench again but it worked! Metro looked great out there, keep it up!
mtl_-lt-GoHabsGo-gt-_mtlc
I would try parking him in front of the net again on the second PP pairing as he has really good hands.

habs-24
im pretty sure he was out there on that PP in case tomas was kicked out of the circle, but whatever... that goal tonight was worth picking him up in february on waivers, it paid off tonight
fourtrax
On a night when we were outplayed and outshot, the team needed unlikely heroes. Thanks, Glen.

Mauro-Biello
I hope people will stop wishing him to be traded away or put on waivers now. However I'm not sure if I would want him to stick around after this season.

honuhab
This guy possesses the attributes that all teams need. Was good in his defensive role. great hard work to set up Moen tonight. Totally sick deflection to tie it up. Awesome that he helped make that traitor jerk Komisarek pay for taking such a useless penalty. Was good to see that the team didn't give up tonight even though they played a pretty lousy game overall. Stole 2 points but did earn the theft. Manatee-X
dont we remember how good he did in the playoffs? im really happy we have this guy. him and moen look very solid out there I'd say he was one of our best players vs Boston (granted, there weren't many to choose from ) Great quote from metro on tsn: "It's just one of those things," said Metropolit. "I couldn't believe I was on the power play, so I'm like, `Where do I go?' So I said, `Why not go to the front of the net?"' Anyways, I was thinking during the game that I'd have to come on and post here... then he went and scored the game tying goal to boot. I know it's just one game, but I hope it can reduce the number of "Waive Metro, bring up Chipchura, buy him out.." posts that come up all over this thread. And I know he doesn't score every day, but I'll tell you what he does bring every game: 1. Defensive responsibility: How many fourth line centres can you really say that about? He's rarely going to cost you a goal, and he's consistantly solid. 2. PK: IMO his best shift last night wasn't the goal or the assist, it was on the PK. There was one instance where he brought the puck into the Leaf's zone when down a man and just stickhandled around for about 10 seconds against two guys. Not bad, Glen. 3. Willingness to fight: Call it work ethic or 'heart' or whatever, but he's got it. Forget the goal, that was right place right time as much as anything (although he does have good hands for a fourth liner). Did anyone catch his assist on Moen's goal? He drills big bad Beauchemin with a big hit behind the Leafs' net, strips him of the puck and perfectly feeds Moen in front. Please, please everyone remember this game in a few months when people start with the "OMG Gainey wasted so much money on the fourth line, CHipchura needs to develop, etc". Because although he won't always score like today, he's one of the most consistant players on the team with his limited ice time
leafs_rock_go_mccabe
Eating crow this morning, I am. Before he scored the between the legs goal on the PP I was asking yelling at the television, "What the heck is Metropolit doin' out there? Is Carbonneau back behind the bench?" Then he shows me up something good.

Habcore
When I saw Metro on the PP I was thinking here we go, but I have to admit, it looks like Metro has a whole lot more tools in his backpack then I gave him credit for. Great game Metro

Great game Metro I don't want to be captain buzz kill or anything but Glen Metropolit is not a long term solution on our PP. Anytime a guy says he was surprised when he was called to go out there for a PP probably shouldn't be on a PP. That's like, rule 1 of the PP. He did what he needed to do (What a tip) but I think the more and more comfortable Pacioretty gets he should be the net presence on unit 2 and if not him then Gui. Haha, that made me laugh out loud And you're right. Metro's been one of my favorite players on this team since we picked him up, but he belongs solely on the fourth line and the PK. flames4eva
Because of his size 5'10" 196 LBS. (not that small really), his age 35 and the fact he was claimed off waivers, many may think Glen is just another washed up player nearing the end of his career... but, IMO, this is the furthest thing from the truth. And I would add that he is , even at this point in his career, much better than just a 4th line fill in at center. And I would also add, he is a better all-around player than some who have been given spots in the line-up above him. Glen can be more useful to the Habs than one might expect. Third line center/right wing is definitely not out of the question as far as I'm concerned, and in a pinch I could even see him playing second line center with more success than would be attributed to him. The man works his butt off each shift, he has good hands, works the corner extremely well for a man his size and can distribute the puck to linemates quite well. I think of him as a Saku Koivu type player (don't laugh) who never had the opportunity Saku was given. At 35, it is late in his career to be vying for a top six position... but IMO, he could handle it if needed. In his case, the Habs have flexibility with the return of Chipchura eminent as a 4th line center. Frankly, I would not be against him centering Moen and Lapierre if the Pacioretty experiment doesn't work out. I would be comfortable with the line-up (barring trade etc.) being as follows... Cammalleri-Gomez-Gionta; Latendresse-Plekanec-A.Kostitsyn; Moen-Metro-Lapierre; Stewart-Chipchura-Laraque.
