SteenIsThaFuture
Factor in expected ice time. Like I said to those who brought up the teams average size, if you play Gionta, Cammy and Gomez, it makes you small as a whole throughout a larger portion of the game. Are you saying will be older given that the older players will possibly receive more ice time than the younger players?

That is a bit of a wash, I think, since our older guys are guys like Metropolit and Laraque, who aren't going to get much ice time, and may not be around that much. They bring up the average. Our top 6 includes Cammalleri, who is only 27, AK at 24, Plek at 26 and whoever gets the final top 6 spot will probably be under 23. Our D is a bit older, with Spacek at 35 and Gill at 34. Otherwise, we definitely are younger than last year...
sanman
We have young forwards, older defence, young goalie, and an older Coach. Someone put that through the analyzer and tell us what it means!

Someone put that through the analyzer and tell us what it means! What it means is absolutely nothing until the start of the season! There are old teams like the Wings that are great, there are old teams like the Isles that suck. There are young teams like the Caps that are great, there are young teams like the Coyotes that suck. King-of-Kings95
I HAVE SEEN THIS A WHILE AGO, I THOUGHT AT FIRST THAT THE BLACKHAWKS WERE THE YOUNGEST IN THE LEAGUE. THOUGHT WRONG! I AM VERY HAPPY THAT THE HABS WENT YOUNGER, I GUESS THEIR LOOKING INTO THE FUTURE. I ONCE HEARD THAT IN THE 2010-2011 SEASON, GAINEY WAS GOING TO GET RID OF ALL THE PLAYERS AND HAVE AN ALL ROOKIE TEAM. I THOUGHT THAT WAS REALLY STUPID, AFTER ALL CAMMY, GIGI AND GOMY ARE HERE FOR THE NEXT 5 YEARS SO IM GLAD THAT WONT HAPPEN. I WAS GETTING A LITTLE WORRIED

I did the calculations, and you are correct. They are essentially the same age as they were last year. Our forwards are a year and a half younger on average, but our defense is older. And of course, our goalies are a year older than at the same time last year. So I take back the general statement I made about the team being younger than we were last year, and will instead state that our top 6 is quite a bit younger with the losses of Kovy, Koivu, and Lang.
