Another shot for the kid. Curious to see how much work he gets with RC at the helm this time around.

The team release on Engqvist:

Assigned to the Bulldogs on December 5 the 6’01’’ and 201 lbs centre ranks second on the Bulldogs in scoring with 23 points (13 goals, 10 assists) in 27 games this season. Five of his goals were scored on the powerplay. Engqvist registered 63 shots on goal and displays a team-leading +9 plus/minus differential.

In eight games with the Canadiens this season, Engqvist, 24, maintained a +1 plus/minus differential, recorded four blocked shots and five hits, while averaging 6:24 of ice time per game.

The Stockholm-born forward Engqvist signed with the Canadiens as a free agent on July 13, 2009.

We'd best see what he has for the remainder of the season. He's already 24 and we need to know sooner rather than later if he has a future with the big club. I'd play him and Palushaj over Darche and Nokelainen going forward.

I'd be fine with that. Darche and Noke have no future here, and while I'm skeptical as to whether Engqvist does either, I agree that he deserves one last shot. I'm not going to judge too much based on this one game tonight, though, given that he played yesterday and spent his day today flying to Montreal.

Agreed.

Darche is a great "character" guy and Im sure he'll sign for league minimum and play where-ever and how-ever we want, if thats the plan. You know what you get out of him & if we decide to resign him next season to play as a 4th liner, so be it. Noke is out of the plans, IMHO.

We need to find out if Engvist has a future and, to a lesser extent Palushaj (although i would likely give him at least 1 more year either way).

he played tonihgt?

In order for him to make it, in the NHL and the Habs line up, he has to pick up the phisical aspect of his game, and exceed in the face off circle. He is after all big, and reliable defensively. He can be a decent 4th line center in the future for us, if he works out those elements of his game.
