For the team to put its prospects in a position to succeed it would need to have a plan.

How many energy centers does the team want 3 years down the line? How many shutdown centers? I'm not sure the team knows. With Plekanec, Desharnais, Eller, Leblanc and Gomez in the system I could see the team trying a doomed-to-failure experiment of 3 offensive forward lines next year with a shutdown line of White-Plekanec-Staubitz.

That doesn't leave any room for Engvist or Nattinen.

ETA: TBH, I'm afraid this team will do to Lars Eller what Pittsburgh did to Jordan Staal.

We dont need to wait for next year to see that line, just watch the game tonight and that's what you'll see

lol.........If this team can put together 3 offsensive forward lines I would be thrilled

Look at this year , one line accounts for all the scoring ( MP, EC, DD )

Do you really think Engvist or Nattinen are NHL caliber players

Too many propsects that we rhink have "potential' that never live up to there so called potential .

Remember BRock Trotter , we never gave him an opportunity , so we traded him , he's still in the AHL

I'm not really sure what you're expecting though? Many of these guys are late second round picks at best, most are 3rd round and beyond. In these rounds you cast a big net and you see if any of them stick. It's not a failure or bust if Enqvist never makes it in the NHL, it's just a normal part of the process. But for some of these fringe guys, you don't know until you give them a legitimate chance. We're in the unique position this year where the season's a write off and we don't have to worry about what poor performances and mistakes from rookies will do to us in the standings. Now's the time to see if any of these kids can cut it, especially the older ones.

Im not expecting anything

For years I keep reading people saying our prospects have the potential to be this and that .

Every prospect has some potential

The really good one's make it to the NHL in a relatvely short period of time

The rest ....career AHL'ers.

Just let them develop , don't put expectations / hopes on them .

They make it , great .

They don't , no big deal . That's why they were drafted late

Well these players aren't high end prospects for sure, but with our situation (not making the playoffs) why not just go ahead and play them? At least we'll get some kind of idea whether or not they're something. A few of them will have to clear waivers next year if they don't make the big team so I'm not sure why we're not just giving them serious minutes now. Maybe they show us something and otherwise the tank continues.

Dont we only have a set # of call ups now? why waste them giving him less than ten mins, sending him down and then calling him back up for the next game

him and leblanc were "emergency" callups due to injury. as soon as the injured guys are back, they need to be sent down

Andreas is a restricted free agent right now. Does anyone think we won't bring him back? He received a few looks at the NHL level last year, but didn't seem to do much, although that may have been a product of his lack of ice time. I cannot remember how much playing time he was given. If he returns to the organization on a new deal does anyone believe he will finally make the cut next season and play in Montreal for more than a handful of games?

I think they'll give him one last kick at the can. He did well in Hamilton and has the size. This could very well be his make or break year.

As I posted in the rumors section, it's circulating the net that he may be signing with a team in the Swedish Elite League, which would put an end to the above speculation.
