Dintrox12
Okay, I have tons for respect for Favre. He is one of the best QBs ever to play in the NFL .. consecutive starts, passing yards, and TD completions etc... But Brett, come on the Vikings? I am a lifelong Packer fan and I was able for the most part support Brett last year as a Jet. I thought he was rushed into retirement by GB and after all he did for the green and yellow he deserved to go out on his own terms. This soap opera is getting ridiculous as he retired in July again and now is headed to training camp in Minnesota????? There is no way I will be able to cheer for the Vikings. habsfanfla
OK here is my prediction...(remember they are already saying that the tear in his rotator cuff is still there)....The Vikings will be leading the division until early to mid November and then Favre will start throwing picks and forcing passes and Minnesota will lose five of it's last six.......ask Jet's fans how this going to go.....10 to 12 million for this?? They should have stuck it out this year and looked to draft a QB next year.....

As a big Jets fan, I have to agree that Favre's second half of the season last year was less than memorable, but New York doesn't have a backfield or a defense like Minny. With Peterson and Taylor to hand off to, and the Williams twins fronting the best run D in the league, Favre will not be forced to play recklessly in an attempt to create offence. IMO, this might be the missing piece to the Viking's puzzle. Either way, the N-North will suddenly have some gun-slingers, with Cutler now in Chi-Town and Stafford in Detroit. Dintrox12
Although many are quick to label the Jets last season as a disappointment, I think they tend to forget how well they played in stretches. They won 5 straight at one point -- including a come from behind win over KC, a thrilling overtime victory over the Pats, and they handed the Titans their first loss of the season in week 12. Then the wheels came off the cart and they went 1 - 4 to close out the season. I'm a huge fan of Favre. What you will see with him as a QB in Minnesota is what the packers faithful witnessed for so many seasons. Lots of TD passes and an almost equal number of picks. It will be difficult to see him comeback to Lambeau in November wearing Vikings colours. I am curious to see what reception he will receive in GB. The guy is the only person to win NFL MVP 3 consecutive times , most TD passes, most completions, most interceptions, etc... I'm not discounting his feats as an ironman which are amazing, I`m saying being an ironman doesnt make you a top 5 QB of all-time if you don`t produce while being an ironman. Cap Ripken is overrated too in that sense hitting .276/.340/.447 career. I know careers decline in their later years but still both atheletes didn't exactly display a "prime" that is equal to their legends. Also lol @ you using most Interceptions as a pro in your argument. On the rest of your records, again look at rates and I bet Favre isn't top 10 in nearly anything if anything. He was 37. What more did you want him to do? He lead the pack to 7 division titles, 4 NFC championship games, 2 superbowl appearances, and 1 superbowl win. He won the NFL MVP 3 times in his prime consecutively. No one else ever has done that. He holds virtually every passing record and most wins as a QB. The only other players that have won the NFL MVP 3 times are Peyton Manning, Jim Brown, and Johnny Unitas . montana, young, warner 2 each and marino and Elway 1. The two QBs who seem to always get compared to Brett and whom Brett has overtaken -- Elway, Montana and Marino had careers that went until they were 37 or 38. Is there a big difference in ages??? franck5890
In football, yards-per-attempt isn't really a be-all, end-all stat. That can largely depend on the players around you, the running game (ie. what positions you face when the offense passes), and just as importantly the offensive scheme. I don't think he's a Manning, Young, or Montana, but in the long run he's still a top-notch HoF'er
Glory_Days
This had me laughing (quoted from another board) I'd like to see them vote him in (Hall of Fame), then change their mind, then say maybe we will put him in, then maybe not... And then induct Aaron Rodgers. I've never liked Favre, but I respect him as a football player...but now to me, he just comes off as a drama queen and an egocentric person. Dintrox12
Some other Favre facts: 17 seasons 3000 or more passing yards. (Marino who played 17 seasons had 13 3000 or more yard seasons) For the years he won the MVP, he was tops in TDs each season (38, 39, 35) and was near or at the top in passing yards. 30 or more TDs passing : 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 2001, 2003, 2004 4000 or more passing yards: 1995, 1998, 1999, 2004, 2007 Stats courtesy NFL.com stat machine... How about NOT THROWING THE INTERCEPTION THAT LOST THE GAME!!! Yes he led the Jets to an 8-3 start an then melted down and the season went down in flames.....yes Favre was good......back then....not now.....as much as I hate to agree with anything on ESPN they said it best yesterday..."The Mets could sign Tom Seaver today and yes he is a Hall of Famer, but is he going to be able to give you seven innings?" Just about every one of the ESPN talking heads said the same thing..the Vikings will start quick and then Favre will hit the wall and they will tank... The Giants field goal kicker actually made a field goal after having 2 shanks in the 4th Quarter. As a packer fan, I know well the roller coaster ride that is Brett. He also passed for over 4000 yds. in 2007 and had 28 TDs passing. 2007 was not ancient history.
Dintrox12
Favre may be old but he can still wow them. Brett threw a TD pass in the dying seconds to defeat the 49ers. i think there was 2 seconds left when the ball was caught. The vikes are a perfect 3-0. Monday night, Favre will lead the vikes against the Pack, get your PVRs ready 'cause I smell game of the week.
CANADIENS27
What's up with Brett Favre? That's easy, he threw that interception in the NFC championship game against the Giants and didn't want to go out with that note. I believe his last pass of last season was an interception. Now we know what's up.
