RSD
looks like they've picked him up depending on his physical source: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=288074
Rocket-1
Good move by Detroit. Sounds weird to say but Bertuzzi is a team player lol.

Mmmm with Chelios gone i think they had like 2.1 million left on their cap or something.
babinator77
Mmmm with Chelios gone i think they had like 2.1 million left on their cap or something. according to capgeek (my new favourite site, thanks wayne!), the red wings, with bertuzzi (at a 1yr $1.5mil cap hit), are over the cap by $970,653 (so i guess he's brought them over the cap...) seems like an odd choice. koreysecord1992
I figured some team would pick him cheap, and though I wouldn't have guessed Detroit, I'm not surprised now that it's happened.
leafs_rock_go_mccabe
Decent pickup for Detroit. They needed someone (anyone) to replace losing Hudler to the KHL. Bertuzzi won't give you the points that Hudler will at this point in his career, but he does add some size to the Detroit lineup.
SpecialboyMikey
detroit has good managment and I guarantee you by the trade deadline youd be wishing you picked him up at 1.5 million! hes a beast and detroit wouldnt sign him without having a reason or a liking for him
Larry-Launstein-Jr
Lest anybody forget, Detroit had him before, and lost him.
babinator77
i'm not complaining about a 1yr deal that is worth laraque money for a once great player ( ) but how are they going to shed the $1mil that takes them over the cap?
SpecialboyMikey
I think detroit should look at trading lidstrom at the trade deadline to build a good young core of players, he may retire in a couple years and would be good to get something from him in return

Detroit will, once again, be on the perennial road to the Stanley Cup and Lidstrom will be a key component of that Cup run. Why trade him? Detroit's core will be good for years and years. Even if Lidstrom does retire I'm sure free agent D-men would love to play there.

Detroit looking to trade their captain Nicklas Lidstrom? One of the best defenseman in the NHL? They would get a great return for Nicklas Lidstrom but they won't trade him. He's been part of the organization for too long and the organization respects him way too much to trade him. His contract is up next year too, so expect him to take a pay cut to stay in Detroit until his career comes to an end.
