Here's a song I wrote last week about the Montreal Canadiens centennial season, the 2009 offseason and the upcoming 2010 season to the tune of "Dead and Gone" by T.I. and Justin Timberlake.

Mods: Please watch this before you think I'm just spamming links and delete this, its an awesome song about our Habs...

By the way... here are the lyrics.

"Movin' On..."

Aye, Let me kick it to you right quick, man

Bob Gainey pulled some awesome moves this summer man

Anybody who ever doubted him

I'm sure you dont feel the same way now

Shout out to Bobby G

This ones for you...

(CHORUS)

Oh (eyyy)

A Habs fan for soo long (soo long)

Koivu, Kovalev are gone (are gone)

but the Habs are moving on, moving on

And oh (eyyy)

This summer is really long (too long)

But training camp is almost on (most on)

The Habs are moving on, moving on

The Habs 100th season was supposed to go right.

Finish number one then go for twenty five.

Time goes by, stuff goes wrong,

Coach gets fired, stuff get blown

Way outta proportion, way past discussion

Gillettes selling the team, and mobster accusations,

Barely made the playoffs, killed in four,

10 UFAs walking out that door.

June 29th, Im kinda scared

No ones signed, free agencys here.

Plus whos gonna sign with Montreal?

Gaineys plan? Overhaul!

Started with a controversial trade.

Every single hater said Gainey overpaid.

In New York, Sather grins.

He stole McDonnagh AND Higgins.

What the hell Bob?

Whatd you do? No GM would have pulled that move.

Late that night, couldnt sleep

Whats gonna happen to our team?

But Bobs not like other GMs

Had 22 million left to spend,

Boy he put that to good use,

Replaced the talent he let loose!

Gill and Mara and Spacek,

Who cares about Komisarek,

Gionta Gomez reunite,

Moen got heart and he can fight,

Cammalleri? What can I say?

I loved that kid back in L.A.

Snipers on his resume

This team is looking good I say!

(CHORUS)

Still people are doubting, questions lurk,

Is old Bob done or still at work?

Will Price bounce back or will he fold?

Will Latendresse score twenty goals?

Under Jacques Martin, what will happen?

Which player steps up to be our next captain?

And up front they say were too small,

Which rookies step up when they get the call?

What about our second line,

Will Plekanec flop or will he shine?

And what about the chemistry?

The young players maturity?

Will OByrne put one in his own net,

Sorry, that one I wont forget.

Komisarek to the Leafs? Youre kidding me bro!

I dare you to walk through the Bell Center door.

Saku we must say say goodbye

Best of luck in Anaheim,

Kovalev our hearts you stole,

Jaw dropping dekes, and crazy goals,

But youre agent just took too long,

Got no choice, were moving on.

Best of luck in Ottawa,

Rip it up with Alfie and Spezza.

This is the year, the stars align,

Its time for our Habs to shine.

The skeptics, well theyll always doubt,

Critics dont know what they talking bout.

The hockey news ranked us in 8th

Its time to rub it in their face

Show every one the Habs are king,

Bring Stanley back home in the spring.

(CHORUS)

I turn my head to the Flames,

That defence is mighty fine,

I turn my head to the Ducks,

Pronger left Anaheim!

So I turn my head to the Leafs,

40 years, just stop trying

The Habs are moving on

Everythings gonna be alright

I turn my head to the Sens

Heatly continues to whine

I turn my head to the Yotes

Blackberry boy still tryin

So I look around the league

Tanguay taking long to sign!

Until the season starts,

Imma play NHL 09!

(CHORUS)

besides from the accent this stuff is awesome

hopefully rds sees you and they do to you what they did to annakin slayd

I tried rapping in my normal voice but it sounded like crap, (I almost scrapped the song) so I tried rapping it a bit lower...

As you can tell though, I'm clearly not a professional rapper (or singer/musician/...) That song kinda just came to me so I wrote it, did my best at rapping, and then I put the video together. I'm just a die hard Habs fan with spare time.

All we need now is a Metal version, a Punk version, Boy-band version, Reggae version, Pop version, Country version and a Jazz/Blues version and we're set! ;)

Think you're up to the task?

Not a fan of rap... AT ALL!

But I really like the lyrics.

Good job man!

This could actually make it to RDS... A bit of constructive criticism, the rap part sounds fine to me-but I don't know much about Rap, I'm actually a frontman/singer/screamer in an old school Hardcore/punk band-If you could get someone just to sing the actual singing parts (while you rap), it just might make it's way to RDS... Kinda like a Linkin Park or 3/11 style. Linkin Park and 3/11 aren't my thing either, but I can honestly say it just might work.

I was in the music biz in the 90's and we did great (unfortunately I screwed up and the band broke up, just as we were putting our album together, ended up owing so much money). I've been in the tattoo/piercing business ever since. My shop is in the Verdun area.

Might be able to find someone who can sing for you. Hell, I even have someone who can mix and record it for you.

He's a Habs fan as well, not to mention a customer of the shop... Don't want to promise anything, but for something like this, he might do it for a trade off (work at the shop).

Seriously man, if you want to polish it up drop me a PM.

The kid i mentioned who records and produces albums has recorded several Montreal rap bands. He's really good, just came back from California where he was in school (advancing himself in the recording biz).

Thanks for the offer but I'm not an aspiring rapper or anything like that... Just wrote that song as a diehard Habs fan in my spare time. That said though, if you want I can give you the instrumental and the lyrics and one of the guys can you you know can rerecord it. As long as you give me credit for writing the lyrics to the song, I would be flattered if someone wanted to record this professionally.

Great video! Got me pumped for the season to start!!

Awesome... mission accomplished!

You wrote it and it's your voice on YouTube. You should at least do the rapping part of the song. I was just suggesting someone should sing the beginning and the chorus with you. Make a clean copy that can be sent to RDS... Hmmmmm, it's not in French, well, Habs I/O then.

The readers would love that, it's a good way to show how pumped the fans are about the upcoming season. Habs I/O have nothing to write about right now, they'd be all over this.

PM me.

I'm actually writing a Habs rock song now, I'm almost finished. This time with auto-tune and vocal effects (using Garageband). I recorded a rough unfinished version and it's sounding really good...

Teaser: It's called "Make it 25!" (I won't say more, I don't wanna give away the song and ruin the magic... I'll post it on the forums when it's finished)

EDIT - If you haven't seen the first one yet:
