Position: Assistant coach

Kirk Muller was named assistant coach of the Canadiens on June 20, 2006, thus making his return within the organization.

Muller was the head coach of the Queen’s University Golden Gaels of the Ontario University Athletics, in his hometown of Kingston, during the 2005-06 season. Under his guidance, the team posted an 8-13-1-2 record.

Muller also held the title of assistant coach to Marc Habscheid, with Team Canada, at the Lotto Cup in December 2005 in Slovakia (Gold Medal). Last March,he worked as assistant coach to Greg Gilbert at the Under-18 World Championship (4th place).

In the OHL, Muller collected 257 points, including 95 goals, in 182 games.

On September 20, 1991, the Canadiens acquired Muller and goaltender Roland Melanson, in return for Stéphane Richer and Tom Chorske. Through a 19-year career, Muller also played for the New York Islanders, the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Florida Panthers and the Dallas Stars. Muller also represented Canada at the World Championships (1985, 1986, 1987, 1989) and at the 1984 Olympic Games, in Sarajevo.

In 1349 NHL games, Muller scored 357 goals and added 602 assists for a total of 959 points. With the Canadiens, he registered 247 points, including 104 goals, in 267 games.

I believe I heard Pearn is a defense specialist too (according to one of the habs inside out guys on the pod cast.) I don't much about him personally so take it for what it's worth. It would be nice to have have an actual experienced defense specialist working with our defense. Something which for some odd reason we didn't deem necessary before.

Why would you think that?

his reporting problems with the islanders aren't outweighing his final years with the stars- i don't think.

in any event with what we know about carbs and the stars i think the margin for muller is so razor thin- when we consider what happened with carbs and the reaction to the K bros from old team players- who bob is- what is happening this year- who do you think the eye is going to be cast on?

sorry- i got poison sumac and i wasn't too clear so let me try again.

here: read wikipedia about kirk. he had problems with the islanders. refused to report. then played lazy so was banned from the team- when recalled refused to report again and was traded at a discount. right?

now as assistant coach the same thing happened with with the k bros- and my contention is that eventually his past will catch up with him, and he'll be asked to hand in his resignation..

are you saying that the kostitsyn brothers actions/play come from kirk muller's past?? you're saying they read his wikipage and decided that only by following what he did in his career (including the bad) is the way to win a stanley cup ...

you know that water is one part what we breathe and one part sun right? oxygen and hydrogen. right?

i'm saying that the coach is always the first one to go.

also that kirk's good play in dallas is not a character reference cause it didn't work with carbonneau- it didn't save carbonneau, and carbonneau was talking about how there were things that were going to come out later- making big threats- that never appeared and probably never will. they would have come out by now otherwise.

this is the last i have to say on the subject for a while. it comes down in the final analysis to religion when that roman soldier gave jesus that extra spearing on the cross, and i'm no expert on that point, or any other particular point of faith for that matter.
