Tv Worth Watching?

a problem with having a TV tuner card on your computer is you end up recording a bunch of things you never have time to watch and just end up taking up HD space... I've got 4 external HDs full of stuff I'm not sure I should bother watching / will ever find the time to watch and would like to clear up space for the new season of things I might actually watch...

so opinions on whether I should watch it or just delete it are welcome... to start with:

the (strike-shortened) second and the third (last year's) seasons of "Heroes"... I enjoyed the first season but I've read the critical lambasting of the subsequent seasons so this is a possible/probable dump...

the two seasons of "Life", the cancelled NBC cop show... I know very little about it but I recorded it anyway... I can usually give up on a show if it doesn't have a proper 'ending' because it gets cancelled, e.g. the new "Night Stalker", not great to begin with but ending it without any sort of resolution to the underlying plotlines of the series made it easy to dump several unwatched eps...

the two seasons of "Pushing Daisies", the cancelled ABC show... I know very little about it but I recorded it anyway...

the two seasons of "Chuck", the NBC show... I know only a little about it but I recorded it anyway... dumpable if only because I have to accept I'll never catch up so it's easier to sacrifice something I haven't watched yet...

Heroes was alright. Not up on par with the first season for sure, but if you plan on keeping up with the storylines I suggest giving it a look. There were some entertaining episodes and plots.

Now for some unrelated banter -- I've never been a fan of "reality" or competition-type TV shows, but I started watching Hell's Kitchen this year and it is absolutely golden, if not for anything but Chef Ramsay himself.

we watch chopped a lot (if you get that), but i have to say cooking the way they do amazes me to no end. first i don't really care for ethnic food, second i can imagine what something like they do costs, and third they pick the wrong winner, but heck- if you have to cook you might as well enjoy it.

I watch sports (like most all of us here); 'cept baseball which is my insomnia treatment, when needed. (always kills me when the batter goes over to the Gatorade dispenser and fills his cup following a home run hit (he jogged the bases).

Other than sports I am very selective:

Comedy

  • Two and a Half men (though not nearly as good as the early seasons)
  • The Big Bang Theory
  • Gary Unmarried
Drama:
  • NCIS (love this show, mostly for the characters and their banter; episodes can really range though, from the 'OK' to the 'classic')
  • Smallville (again, like Two Men, better in its early seasons)

I agree on the recording bit. But I do really like it in the end:

  • End of watching 18 minutes of commercials every hour -- this is the "heaven part"
  • Save up and watch a few episodes of the same show together on a lazy weekend afternoon
  • I record Canadiens Express on RDS, and can watch a whole Hab game in less than an hour -- very useful when I am busy; haven't time to watch all 82 games at 3 hours each -- I just have to make sure I don't hear the score on the radio before sitting down to watch the game. Nothing worse than watching a sports event when you know the outcome already. :D
  • I think one has to just pick a few select shows you really like, and only record them. Same for movies. Then you can organize your TV watching around the rest of your life, instead of the other way around.

I would hit the delete button for the OP. I never heard of those programs except for Heroes and I could never get into that.

My TV viewing is limited to mostly sports including baseball. LOL The comment from a previous poster about Gatorade and a homerun hitter is a hoot. I need to borrow that if I may when I debate with a friend about which pro sport has the more difficult season.

When I'm non-sports watching my selections are limited to "Law and Order". When that gets too depressing I switch to comedy and mainly watch "Two and a Half Men" and "Everyone Loves Raymond".

I was never a movie watcher but I'm trying to do better in that department. My attention span isn't that great. LOL

When I don't feel like any of the above then I have some music channels I enjoy.
