CanadianMike
For those of us that will be following Higgins career (even if he plays for the Rangers). I created this topic. I will be watching a lot more Ranger games this season because of our ex #21 (and Gaborik) and I am very anxious to see what kind of numbers Chris puts up. Kravchenko
He just scored on a rebound. Wouldn't be surprised to see nearly 30 goals out of him.
leafs_rock_go_mccabe
He just scored on a rebound. Wouldn't be surprised to see nearly 30 goals out of him. Meh, the rebound... Chara was kind of just standing around. It's pre-season. I have a feeling Chara would have been pile-driving him into the ice had it been a meaningful game. Let's not assume because Higgins scored in pre-season that he's going to come anywhere near 30 goals.
CanadianMike
yeah just preseason, but still good for him. Hope he has his best season yet. I wonder what line (and linemates) he will have once the reg season begins.
CanadianMike
Seeing my first pics of Higgins in a Rangers jersey this week .....going to have to get used to it. Makes me a little sad because we were sure he was a big part of the Habs futur.

FanFromAB
My prediction is Christopher Higgins scores 30 goals and gets over 30 helpers for at least 60 points this season! No reason, just a random prediction. Higgy was one of my favorite Habs and I am very sad to see him go but welcome to the club Scott Gomez! koreysecord1992
I can see Higgins picking up a little bit from last year's numbers. I figure if he plays 75+ games he'll finish with 22-25 goals and a similar number of assists.
catt-_mtlc
Now we have Cammalleri instead! And Gomez whom he was traded for.
CanadianMike
2 assists in his first 2 games with the Rangers. No idea how he's been playing though only watched a couple minutes here and there. I have my own hockey game tonight so I will miss him playing again tonight (which would have been a great time since no Habs or other teams on at the same time). gracie12
Good for Chris! I always liked him, he's a class guy. That said, i think there is no comparison between what Gomez brings to this team & what Higgins could have. We are in a much better shape with scott & while he's 3 years older than higgins, he's still a fairly young guy himself.

My game was cancelled tonight, so I get to watch Higgy hopefully score his first as a Ranger tonight.
roy_133
Yep, another young player lost by the organization. He's not that young, and also he's a pending UFA which hurts his value.

I understand he's playing on the 1st line with Drury and Gaborik. I see him having the best year of his career thus far, I hope so anyway.
amp73
He's not that young, and also he's a pending UFA which hurts his value. 26 yrs old not 30 1 st round pick 14th overall And he make $2.25 m / yr for one year not $ 8 m / yr until 2013/2014 like the guy he was traded for But maybe all Sather wanted was to dump the dumb contract he origianlly agreed to , now it's BG 's to deal with

His contract isn't the problem, the fact that he's a pending UFA hurts his value is all I said which is undeniable. Also, Brian Burke was saying on his inside the draft so that more then 1 team approached Sather unsolicited asking about Gomez, and that he's not surprised because Gomez is a good player. So we obviously paid a little more then if he was just a dump if other teams were interested.
gracie12
I see him having the best year of his career thus far, I hope so anyway. He probably will, yes, but I suspect at the end of the year, if we meet back in this thread, Gomez will have 30+ more points than Higgins. And those 30+ more points will be of HUGE difference for this team. Time will tell.

And those 30+ more points will be of HUGE difference for this team. Time will tell. Well Higgins best year would involve him scoring more than 52 points, so for Gomez to outscore him by 30+ he'd never to have atleast 83 points which, while possible, I wouldn't bet on especially with the hit the PP will take with Markov gone. If Higgins were to score around 50 points, Gomez would probably outscore him by around 20 points (70-50) but if Gomez does that and plays very good defensively then I guess we're getting what we signed up for. I don't think Higgins is going to break his career high, he generally starts out like a house on fire before cooling off but he is still a good useful payer
FlHabsFan
In all fairness, imagine Chris playing a full season. He has been his own worst enemy buy getting injured every year and missing a month or so.

I don't think Higgins is going to break his career high, he generally starts out like a house on fire before cooling off but he is still a good useful payer Don't look at Gomez total point production, because I don't see him scoring a lot of goals-he never had a 20 goal season. Gomez was and will always be a play maker. Last year, Gomez had nobody to pass the puck to when skates up ice. Now that Gomez is going to be paired up with Gionta, he's will be racking up a lot more assists. He had 54 assists in his 1st year with the Rangers, and 55 assists when he won the Cup with the Devils in 2003. So if Gomer can get 47 or more assist this season, then the Habs will get their money's worth This might be a rare moment in the NHL where both teams will benefit. Higgens is fitting in well with Tort's system. And Gomez is being paired with his old buddy Gionta.
