cbarker78
Calgary better have another deal coming tonight or tomorrow... or else they just made 2 HORRIBLE trades... How can a team get rid (let walk) of quality players year after year??? Hamrlik Tanguay Cammalleri Jokinen Phaneuf B Stuart I can't believe they are going with Stajan as their number 1 center. IMO they couldn't have made worse deals in the past few days if they tried.
CanadianMike
For all of us that were sure his career would take off in New York Good luck with the Flames Chris.
kiprusoffk
Unbelievable stupidness from Sutter. How big a mistake was Jokinen??? He did nothing for them and is the reason they could not keep Cammy LMAO. So wouldn't that really translate into getting Higgins,Kotalik and a 3rd rounder for Lombardi,Prust,Jokinen and Cammilleri ???
ChiLla
Hamrlik Tanguay Cammalleri Jokinen Phaneuf B Stuart Well, that's actually quite a selection of impact players and the Flames don't have much to show for it. I guess BG is not the only struggling GM
gracie12
Very odd moves by Sutter. I mean, I do understand what he's saying in principle: Too much money to a few players really handcuffs a team & hurts them long term, but if you have means to replace those players, whats the point in moving them? In other words, extra cap space is irrelevant if you cant use it.
Chunwah
Sutter is obviously going to bring in Theo Fleury!!~~!!@~$$!~
Guest NvidiaN
I'm pretty sure, even though we've overpaid...we made out like bandits in this deal. Higgins is sucking it up, so we were basically able to get Gomez, a premier name in the league...for a 1st round pick, and a guy who doesn't look like he could even play on the third line at this point. Look what Toronto just gave up for Phaneuf, we definitely made out like bandits.

kiprusoffk
They might be able to use additional space this summer. hmmmm, maybe a run at Kovalchuk, but they really need a centre in the off season??? without looking it up and just estimating, The flames got rid of 6.5 mill(Dion),5.5 mill(joker). Stajan, higgins, White and Mayers(not sure about his status) have expiring contracts. They added Kotalik and Hagmans contract for another 2 years. They could have a lot of room?? Guest NvidiaN
I don't think they actually have any cap room for a guy like Kovalchuk: http://nhlnumbers.com/overview.php?team=CGY&season=0910 Sure, they got rid of Phaneuf/Jokinen (12.5M combined)...but they did get back some substantial contracts: Kotalik is 3M Stajan is 1.75M White is 1.0M Hagman is 3.0M Mayers is 1.4M As you can see, they took back ~$10M in cap. I don't know/why they would work something for Kovalchuk at this point.

Guest Kovy-27
C'mon Higgins do something about you're career,I can't bealive that someone who had so much talent not long ago and was bringing good hockey for the Habs is having such a hard time.He needs to get his act together,he has the talent,I just don't understand what happened to him. FlHabsFan
Sooo.... With this season coming to an end and considering what he has done (or hasnt done), I wonder what Chris can expect in the way of a contract this year. Low production last year here, then almost no production in NY or Cal. Talk about fizzling out. I had high hopes for both him and Huet this year, and I cant guarentee either will be playing in the NHL next year.
weedleaf
Id take him back 1.2 million 3rd line 4th line. Welcome back
Hawker_mtl
Id take him back 1.2 million 3rd line 4th line. Welcome back Higgins was actually pretty good when used in a specific checking line role. He showed some pretty good defensive awareness. He just can't be relied upon for much offensive output. franck5890
I didn't mind him either when we actually used him in a role that suited him, but the organization tried for too long to put the "square peg in the round hole" - he had a flash-in-the-pan season when it came to offensive output, and we banked on that for far too long. ChiLla
I'd definitely take him back for the right price. Higgins, Moore and S.Kostitsyn would be nice to watch plus he can replace guys on our top lines in case of injury.
