chitown8
Before Cristobal Huet left the Habs his first name was different and for the life of me I cannot remember what it was nor can I find any postings on it----someone enlighten me please--- thanks in advance
dfrancis
Uhh, no it wasn't. His name was always Cristobal. You might be thinking of how they changed the pronunciation of his last name, from HOO-AYY to HEW-ETT

You might be thinking of how they changed the pronunciation of his last name, from HOO-AYY to HEW-ETT Well it's not really that they changed the pronunciation, rather, Montreal media and hockey announcers were pronouncing it incorrectly to begin with. Wayne-1
Chicago's French goalkeeper Cristobal Huet is in full action just two hours after landing in Zurich for the Victoria Cup.
CanadianMike
Well it's not really that they changed the pronunciation, rather, Montreal media and hockey announcers were pronouncing it incorrectly to begin with. When Huet was asked, he later said they were pronouncing it correctly all along (no matter what Cristobal's wife told the reporters to begin with). Either way you say it..I am still a fan and wish him well. Here is his chance to show that he can play a full season as a #1.

I seem to remember that in the end he said it didn't matter which way it was pronounced. Different dialects, etc. Either way is fine... eaither way, either way... so you do or you don't want some alcohol? either way...

357908_1475251331
I read this on another site What's the worst four letter word in Chicago ? A: H U E T lol, but the real worst word is rain. snow we seem to be able to deal with, but when it rains we have nothing but hopeless or way too aggressive drivers. there is no in between. funny, none of my hawks fans buddies have said anything about huet. the team is far from ready to play out of town, much less overseas. kane and hossa is about all the hawks can handle at one time- of course playing flat out drunk hasn't been tried yet either. think they'd do any better? habsin09
Good quote by Mike Gillis about all the ***** Huet takes Vancouver News-October 3rd 2009 From what we've learned, the Nucks still aren't contemplating the idea of rotating their goaltenders. Roberto Luongo has now let 5 goals on 32 shots, this season, and is in route to open the season 0-2.Vancouver's GM,Mike Gillis, has stated: "Well, you know, unless I'm wrong, the only goalie who's not allowed to have something less than an above average game is named Huet. And that's why, we're sticking with Luongo"...
roy_133
If Gillis said that, it is probably the weirdest quote I've ever seen in my life.
FlHabsFan
Its true though. Whether it was in Montreal or in Chicago. The other guy could give up a few bad goals and it be talked away as having a bad night. Cris lets in 1 or 2, and he gets crucified by the fans. Take a look at Price. Hes in his third season and if he has a bad game, then people say its ok because hes still developing. No.... Its because he had a bad game. And thats ok. Until players are replaced by robots, its going to happen.

Cris was treated really well in Montreal by the fans, sure there were some in the minority there were hard on him but if you look at the Price thread the samething happens there. It's a large fan base and even if 95% of people are good about it there's still a large number who aren't. In Chicago the fans have every right to be upset with Cris based on his contract and sub par play and I'm sure even he'd agree. I'd link to see a link with that quote. jcammalleri
Huet has always been a slow starter...he's going to have a 35 win season. I've no doubt in my mind. He's too good of a goalie to not able to turn it around when given a fair shot. and he'll get a fair shot in Chicago..no matter what some (Khabibulin )fans say (Yes..I've been browsing their boards ). And it's good to see that even other GMs have started noticing how underrated Huet is. I'm not sure...but his save% and GAA must be in the top 10 among goalies that play at least 30 games/season in the last 5 season. Still some consider it their responsibility to ridicule him after each and every mistake.

Anyway, I hope for his sake he gets in a groove. 3 goal a game average so far. 3 goals on 5 shots tonight. He needs to stop putting all the pressure eon himself of being the #1 goalie of a cup contender or having that big contract. I takes more than a goalie to win a cup; and long term contracts are just that...long term! he's not going to justify it in one month. I hope he can calm himself down and try to focus on individual games; not the big picture or even what fans/media are saying.

Calgary up 5-0. Chicago comes back to tie it at 5. Awesome game. We'll see if they can finish it off.

Thats gotto hurt not making excuses for a .400 save% but all 3 shots were from within 10 feet of the net and two were brutal turnovers that completely caught Huet off guard. He will come around! I believe in him more than I believe in myself Can't wait to watch him on TSN tomorrow. I've followed him around long enough to know he's about to go on a hot streak. hip hip HUET! FlHabsFan
Gave up another 4 goals against the stars on saturday... I think im done defending the guy. Its one thing to give up 1 or 2 and the occasional 3. But 3 every game with the occasional 1 or 4?

The only problem is he won't live up to that contract and the fans there will probably never let that go.
