I really hope he plays on the fourth line instead of D'Agostini.

At least with Tommy the effort is there. I don't know what it is with D'ags but it seems like he's playing with an undeserved sense of entitlement this year. If you aren't willing to pay the price and go to the dirty areas then you can ride the bus in Hamilton until you appreciate what it means to don the CH.

Thing is, Dags never went to the dirty areas. His success last season came largely on individual plays (breakaways, etc.). He's got a good shot, and that's it. Fringe player at this level, a faster but smaller version of Dagenais.

Pyatt and Olivier Fortier were both demoted to Hamilton before the trade deadline yesterday... Pyatt was immediately recalled after the deadline...

because of this 'paper-shuffle', Pyatt can now be demoted before the Habs season is over... NO OTHER Hab on the active roster can be sent down...

Fortier was sent down off the IR and wasn't recalled...

When MAB and Cammi are healthy. Where does Pyatt fit?

Gionta - Gomez - Pouliot

A.Kostitsyn - Pleks - Cammi

Moen - Moore - S.Kostitsyn

Metro - Pyatt/Darche/MAB/Lapierre

So we have 4 players for two 4th line positions since I am assuming Metro is a lock for the 4th line. MAB is PP expert. Darche is energy player. Lapierre is energy player who can play on PK. Pyatt is speed player who can play on the PK.

I don't know. Maybe a rotation of these 4 players so everyone gets some game action.

well, first cut is easy. Laps to teh press box. He's nowhere near as valuable as MAB, Darche, or Pyatt. If he fought or even drew the scattered penalty, I could see it. But as it stands, guy is at the bottom of the depth chart there. Heck, I'd even rather have White or Trotter in the lineup over Max.

I can't get enough of how hard this kid skates. He's just pure hustle. Beyond that, he's shown that he can create good scoring chances, we've seen him chuck that puck to a linemates stick in the slot while he drives wide with incredible speed quite a few times.

Numbers are stacked against him it seems. Can't drop Metro or Darche in my mind. Laps should be scratched and while I believe Pyatt has more value than MAB as a forward, it's hard to deny the team a PP catalyst like him.

I like what this kid is bringing, and I'd be inclined to keep MAB on the bench unless the PP is struggling badly just to keep Tommy in the lineup, but as roy_133 noted in the game thread, he'll probably go back to Hamilton once everyone's healthy.

I know that Pyatt's probably going to get the short end of the stick here too, but I'd hate to see it happen. I was impressed with his willingness to take a hit to make a play. And I don't just mean a hit but he got hammered a couple of times and he didn't even flinch, just kept his feet moving. It's good to see one of speedy/smaller guys be willing to dish em out as well.

I hope the keep Pyatt, Darche and Metro as the energy line because they actually bring it every shift. Please don't play Laps and MAB over those guys!

THIS.

Laps is hit and miss- this season it's a helluva lot of miss, next to no hit.

Weep hit it on it's head- keep MAB out unless the PP really struggles.

Pyatt-Metro-Darche is what I call an ideal 4th line that hustles and creates.

Two things need to happen to our PP. The return of Cammi needs to make the PP better, which it should. A forward needs to play on the point. The forward could be S.Kostitsyn, A.Kostitsyn, or Cammi. Someone at the point with a big shot or great passing.

Otherwise I think that MAB is like Souray, Streit, and Schneider. The guy that blasts the puck from Markov one-time passing.

100% agreed. If he serves no other purpose, he should be in the lineup to get Markov back to normal.

I cringe every time i see Markov on the right point. Yes, he scored a goal there but his vision/cross-ice setups/pinching seems so hampered everytime he's on the right point.

What makes 79, glorious is that he's never stationary on the PP. However, on the right point he always seems to be stationary, taking away his best asset and vision.

Due to this, I would take Pyatt out in favour of MAB. I do agree though, Pyatt has made a very good impression. However, he may just not have the size to truly succeed. Yes he's always working hard, but, he seems to lose his fair share of puck battles.

Most assuredly though, Pyatt has made himself out to be a good replacement part. I don't think that his skill level will ever earn him a full time role. He is like Josh Gorges-lite. Does everything pretty well, nothing outstanding, is slightly undersized, but plays his heart out on the ice.

Pyatt certainly does bring the energy, but I think his development might be better servied leading a powerful Bulldogs team deep into the play-offs. He also doesn't have to clear waivers, unlike everyone else on the roster. This makes him a prime candidate to be sent down upon the return of Cammalleri and Bergeron. I, too, hope that Bergeron doesn't see the ice anytime soon (maybe they can send him on another conditioning stint), but it seems doubtful that Pyatt is going to get the ice time over Lapierre.
