Ah you're right, I just read something about poor point coverage and just assumed you were talking about the first goal. If I had been paying attention I would have noticed that on the first goal it was Eaton (not Gonchar) getting a shot off with Lapierre (not Pyatt) failing to get in the shooting lane.

You're channeling your inner Bob Cole! ;):P :P :P

Watching him consistently mistake Lapierre for Plekanec was sad. I mean, their jersey numbers aren't even close.

Oy. That was definitely a facepalm worthy post.

It's also funny/frustrating listening to Cole constantly wonder which team is going to get a penalty. Duh Bob, the team with the puck on their stick.

Remember that ref in Tampa? He was calling Carey Price for a penalty, and he said something along the lines of "number thirty... uh... seven, Carey Price, two minutes for roughing."

Seems people have trouble remembering just who we are!

After our Playoff run I don't think they'll have troubles remembering us... We've turned quite a few heads in the first 2 rounds.

My favourites:

- when Bob Cole calls the post the glass or the glass the post (puck thwacks off the glass and he's calling it as hitting the post (?!?)

- sorry but, I can't watch this guy without thinking of Bob Cole:

:D

(having said all this, Bob Cole in 1993 was really stupendous ...... "DESJARDINS!!" ;) )

Back on topic, Pyatt has been just outstanding. He never seems to make a mistake. His decision making is just really, really good. And the speed he brings is amazing.

Someone mentioned the other day: If I had know how Tom Pyatt was gonna play, Id have traded him straight up for Chris Higgins. Wow, just wow.

At least the Habs in the late 2000s have been the opposite of the Houle Habs in that we've been on the positive end of the throw-ins of trades (Gorges, Pyatt, etc. vs. throwing in our Captain in a trade where we were giving up the best player to start with)

No doubt! Its funny how the throw-ins often determine the true winner of a deal.

Although I guess we have to see how the other guys in this deal (specifically McDonaugh) work out before we know for sure.

And even then, in a cap-world when the two main players are on drastically different contracts (Gomez and Higgins), it makes it tough to ever truly evaluate (since NYR were able to get Gaborik by giving up Gomez for example). It was easier to evaluate trades before the lockout for this reason (although I guess teams still couldn't spend unlimited money, they all had their own limits).

On purely a player for player basis, McDonagh would have to become pretty amazing for us to lose, simply because we knew Gomez was a far better player than Higgins, but he also brought a far larger cap hit with him.

what a force on the PK and thats all playoffs but tonight when we needed big PK efforts he was right there on the wall digging out the pucks and causing turnovers

Way-to-go Tommy Pyatt, now, more that ever, want to see is brother on this team! I have watched Taylor play for Vancouver and love his effort and grit. Tommy is going to be a very good player in the NHL if he keeps up this type of work ethic! That goal last night was evidence of what more Habs need to do t score against Philly! Drive the net boys, follow Tommy's lead!

They may not even get Mcdonough, It looks like NYR want to sign him but Mcdonough does not seem interested.

I am not so sure Pyatt was just a throw in. I would suspect their was some due dilgence done before the trade was made.

I know playing on a gold medal winning team does not always mean anything...but he was on back to back gold medal winning junior teams.

I suspect Gainey knows a bit about strong character type defensive players and likely seen something he liked in this kid.

He is a great role player with tremedous speed, i never new anything about him, but i do now...

He was nice catch

I think that a Chris Higgins for Pyatt trade would have been worth it; in hindsight of course!

Well I guess it depends on what you mean by "throw in" - for me I dont think of a throw in as someone that the trading team says "hey, why dont you take this guy" but more than the team acquiring does indeed have someone on their radar.

My guess is that the original discussion was Gomez for Higgins & then NY felt that they needed more & asked for McDonaugh & perhaps Montreal then felt they needed compesation & so forth.

Im sure Montreal was indeed interested in Pyatt, but if, for example, the rangers had offered Gomez & _______ the deal still may have gone through. If they had offered Pyatt & _______ it likely wouldnt have.

1. you may be right , but what we gave up may have changed also.

2. i don't know if i agree with this, but i am not privy to what gainey wanted, maybe he did like pyatt and maybe he was out to get pyatt also, and maybe he still would of traded for pyatt, certainly what we would have given up would have changed, but there are always trades of lesser players, because one gm sees something in a player that another does not.

Did anyone see how Pyatt got hurt? Listed as day-to-day :(

i didn't see it and i was there  in the third, i was wondering why JM was playing moen on the 3rd line, that's when i noticed he was not on the bench and i was wondering what the heck was going on

Perhaps someone can find the time of his last shift in the 3rd so we can go back to a game recording and see what happened?
