crud!...its probably his foot i remember him taking a shot off it a few games back...bahhhh...coulda used him out there tonight for sure...hopefully he gets well soon and back into action...did spacer play?

Yup, Spacek played, but he wasn't quick at all. Really felt bad for him out there tonight. He tried, but just couldn't keep up.

I remember a week or so ago, Gionta had a therapy day and I was wondering then if he'd be out of the line up.

Our team is dropping like flies... Makes me wonder how many more are playing through injuries or illnesses (the flu is still going around).

can anyone tell me why gionta didnt play? only if they could have won...what a performance by price from what i saw on the highlights

Price was fantastic once again... I hope he continues to play on the road, I feel playing away from the home crowd is doing wonders for his confidence.

And, Halak seems to be winning at home, so it's a perfect fit right now.

The problem as i see it is not the players they have been adding over the years its the kids they have been drafting over the last five or sixe years. There is not one player that has been drafted during the 6 years gainey has been here that has the ability to play on a first line. And only one player that looks they are capable of playing on a second line. You would think after 6 years of drafting that we would have one possibly two top line forwards.

Saku, Kovalev, Tanguay

Gomez, Gionta, Cammer

The latter three younger and quick. But really we have to have some kids step up to the plate......

If this team does not fix itself.....this video may refer to our habs. ;)

Ah, Jim. He says so perfectly what's on all our minds. :P

Man, what an awful game. Hurts my head just to think about it. I've moved the panic button within reach.

Well hopefully we keep doing badly. Instead of floating around 8th in the east let's keep sucking and draft a franchise player who will score 30 goals in his first year. Because other then Carey we have no recent succesfull draftpicks.

No our only sucessful picks so far imo are Max P, Carey and Jaro. That are still on the habs.

im still in shock that the kid makes 53 saves and they still lose loll id be ok on the lack of defense if there was an explosive offense...but my god if i didnt see the highlights i wouldnt have thought there werent any players for the preds to skate/shoot through to get to price haha

We had a pretty poor team in the early 80's as well.

This storied franchise has had other bad stretches... Our real dynasty was during the 50's, 60's and 70's. That only adds up to 3 decades in a hundred year history.

We won 16 of our 24 cups over a 3 decade span. The other 8 were spread out over 7 decades (that equals to quite a few years of suckage). Out of our hundred year history, we only dominated 30 years.

I'm so tired of people saying how strong we were in the past. Sure we made the playoffs quite a bit, but it's not like there were 30 teams back in the day.

It was a completely different time... People have to join the 21st century, where Montreal doesn't have the monopoly of Quebec born hockey players, where free agency and the mighty dollar rules supreme and there are more than 6-15 teams to compete with.

"Making the playoffs quite a bit"! We were in the cup finals 30 times out of one hundred years, not a bad ratio, and aside from the New York Yankees, 24 cups in that span pits this franchise against the revered Bronx Bombers 27 championshps. Sure there were no 30 teams back then but there were many great players back in those times, all North American blood at that. Every team had top quality players, including the ones who didn't make the playoffs. Even the novice Buffalo Sabres had the Perrault's and Martin's. And great coaching must receive much credit in those glory times, oh and , of course, I'd be remiss if I didn't include the superb goal tending. Yes, this hockey team, the most storied in the NHL, has been mediocre in upper management, w/ the product on the ice, but most glaring in many, many years are the selections at draft time. And no, they were not all French players for the taking. The Cap era is a sorry excuse if one (not saying you in particular is using this) but this kind of thinking allows "certain people" off the hook. Playing French players when they should be demoted, hiring from within, ex players, remaining with the "old guard" is demoralizing this franchise as years go by.

:(

I couldn't believe this game....Price was outstanding, but it takes more than one guy to win a hockey game....

*sigh*

I'm not seeing the emotion I want to see from these players

let's hope they can re-group, screw their heads on the right way, and send Carolina back to the south on tuesday....

Yes - very  with our players after this game .

it just sucks that all that amazing performance by Price went towards a loss.....I just hope that what Price did yesterday is pretty wide and clear enough to his management and teammates.

This is what I don't get... Yes, Gainey has made some big errors, gambles and lost out.

But he went out in the offseason and got us a new team. Unfortunately, we haven't even had a chance to see what this new team could do. Until we have a healthy team, we won't be able to see what BG's acquisitions will do.

I know it's disappointing, but people, we have to be realistic.

Everyone was worried about chemistry... Well, sorry to say, but chemistry right now is the least of our problems. 1st we have to get our team back (healthy), then we can start worrying about chemistry.

JM is trying to implement his coaching style with a skeleton of a team.

It's like trying to run a company/factory with scabs ( replacements, new employees and part timers).

Waah-waah... We got 7 new players in the offseason, 2 more since the season opener, a new coach, new owner and have lost 12 players to injuries and illnesses since the beginning of the season, why aren't they winning?

Gee, I wonder why the Habs are struggling. <_<

Personally I had very little expectations for this team and if the habs were to miss the playoffs this year? No big deal. It's rare that you can cobble a team together so quickly from the free agent market and be genuinely competitive. Over time I expect a system to be fully implemented along with lines fully formed and good chemistry between the players with the GM (Gainey or otherwise) filling in the gaps where he sees fit. But to say we're playing with a skeleton team right now is a bit disingenuous. We have our top two lines completely intact (apart from not having decided who will play on which line yet) with the exception of last night as Gionta was out and we're only missing one of our top D-men - O'Byrne has yet to prove himself as a top D in my mind and Gill has enough brain cramps to keep him off the top too. So yes we're dealing with a lot of injuries but I'd wager that most teams dealing with as many injuries as we have while having their top two lines intact would not be having trouble scoring. They might be losing but I doubt they'd be having the types of offensive troubles we've been having. I'm not saying we should be winning, although that would be nice, but we should be a bit more competitive despite our injuries.

Maybe i should stop watching the games... watched the calgary one: got shut out, watched the 1st period of the phoenix one: no goals, stopped watching during 1st intermission: scored 4 goals, watched yesterdays: shut out.....

hahaha...no the team just can score consistently...

and from habs i/o

Both Carey Price and Jaroslav Halak were banging, even breaking sticks today after being drilled by pucks. Halak got the worst of it, taking one off the collarbone and then seemingly the chin, under the protective flap on his mask, while Price was doubled over and splintering his Warrior stick after having taken one awkwardly in the upper thigh, lower abdominal region where hard contact changes your singing register in the choir.

poor guys, they arent even whats wrong with the team lol

Well what about all those games Price tanked in? Are the players going into the dressing room pissed at him? Well Price played okay but remember who is doing the shooting, they have scored less goals than we have this season! Wait till next Fri. and Sat. when we play Wash. and Detroit, they know how to score, so lets see how he does against good teams because the facts are his last 3 games have been against easy teams, like why did he not play Cal.?

please ban
