When Swedish Goal Celebrations Go Wrong

Celebrations gone awry reminds me of a Habs story.

The fifth game of the 1953 Stanley Cup Finals between the Habs and the Bruins was scoreless and went to overtime. Elmer Lach scored the game and cup winning goal just over a minute into OT. The Rocket and Elmer raced at each other for an airborne celebratory embrace. However the Rocket's stick struck Elmer in the face and broke his nose.

"I took the hardest check of my life when the Rocket jumped on top of me when the puck went in," Lach said.
