frostbitten
What happens when not only a Habs fan but any fan that has relocated out of the district of their favorite team? Do you still follow your favorite team or do you srart following the team in your new destination? I've always been a believer in supporting your local team. However, I've recently moved to a different location and have a hard time trying to follow the local teams. I've been a habs fan for over fourty years, I can't just abbanded the Habs. I have a sense of loyality! I suppose you can have a favorite team and at the same time support the local team also.

roy_133
It's easier than ever to support teams from afar with all games being accessible on TV and readily available to anyone on the internet. I've never lived in Montreal and have always been a huge Habs fan.
SteenIsThaFuture
I live in Florida and watch the Habs still, by nature I become more attached to the Panthers just by location factor. I've only watched a handful of Panther games all year, but its more than I did when I was in Montreal and the Habs are still #1 to me.
Dintrox12
I was born in BC and have been a Habs fan for 30 years. I've lived in Cowtown and in Northern Alberta's Oiler country ,but I cheer for the Habs. I now live in BC but am closer to Calgary than Vancouver. I only wear one team's jersey. Go Habs Go!! franck5890
I think if I were to move to an area with a local team, I'd probably develop some mild level of affection for them (unless its somewhere like Toronto ), but they'd never replace the Habs as numero uno. habsfanfla
My family is originally from western New York, Finger Lakes area and I have always rooted for the Canadiens, I have sinced moved to Florida and still only root for the Canadiens. My brother has a job that has caused him to moved seven or eight times in the past 20 years and he always changes and roots for the home team...for a while he was even a Kings fan....ugh...now he's back in the Northeast and roots for the Devils... I now live in Saskatchewan and I'm still a Habs fan. It's just something you can't replac IMO.

Lynch_mtl
I've never been one to have loyalty to whole teams and franchises, but their players instead. So following local teams instead of the habs would be really easy in some places and literally impossible in other places if I changed location. Detroit: easy. Toronto or Pittsburgh: Impossible. But good luck to you in your situation sir. Sounds tough.
catt-_mtlc
I live in a state with no NHL team but even if it did I'd still root for the Habs no matter what. I have switched to the home state NFL football team though but the Habs are special its hard to root for another team when you're a Habs fan. whalerfan
Moved to the states when I was very , very young. Followed the habs when I was a kid, watching them on NBC ( remember Peter Puck....lol), watched Dryden, Savard, Robinson, Lafleur and all the greats. I never stopped liking the habs. I did cheer against them when the Whalers joined the NHL and will always hate Claude Lemieux .......but the habs were always my second favorite team then. Since the whale has been harpooned, I returned to my habs....could never NEVER cheer the canes. GO HABS GO..... CAN'T WAIT FOR MARCH 13TH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Guest habs1952
If I had to cheer for the Laffs because they are the local team I would have moved to Montreal a long, long time ago.
thefooligan5
My only personal experience is with the QMJHL. I grew up in Sydney, Cape Breton so once our beloved Cape Breton Oilers left for Hamilton we got a Q team, The Screaming Eagles. My father always had season tickets so I would frequent most games per season with him and although they have yet to win anything of importance I became a fan. After all they produced Marc-Andre Fleury and up and comer Andrei Pavelec (known for producing good goaltenders). I've since movied to Halifax where the local Q team is The Mooseheads. I've been here for 7 years now and admit I sort of feel attached to the team as I am feeling just as much a Haligonian as a Cape Bretoner. But they will always play second fiddle to my Eagles. It's just the way it is.
habs1119
I was raised in Ontario and have been an ardent HABS fan my whole life. I joined the Canadian Forces 16 years ago and have moved around ALOT! But, I always find a way to follow Les Boys and even make it to at least one live game a year. I will NEVER change teams, Win, Lose or Draw Les Canadiens, Les Canadiens sont-La!!!!!!!
