I like the second last one on the list. There's just no getting wrap around it, I'm so happy he is gone.

True, and there may be a couple more decent ones but overall this list reflects Gainey's futile attempts to assemble a championship team. Alas, when you have mediocrity to trade you can you can only expect mediocrity in return. (SIGH)

I would like 2 trades to happen here soon. I want Jeff Carter to be a part on the Habs. But I realize a Halak for Carter would not work because of Salary Cap restraints, so I propose the next 2 trades.

To Montreal:

C-Jeff Carter (5m)

To Philly:

G-Jaroslav Halak (0. 775)

+/- salary= +4.225M

2nd trade

To Montreal:

RW- Nathan Horton (4m)

To Florida

C-Scott Gomez (7.357m)

RW- Georges Laraque (1.5m)

2010 2nd round pick

+/- salary= -4.857M

By making these trades, we take about 600k off our books, and really strengthen ourselves up from, and add size and grit.

Our lines could look like this:

Cammalleri-Carter-Horton

Pouliot-Plekanec-A. Kostitsyn

Pacioretty-Metropolit-S. Kostitsyn

Moen-Lapierre-D'Agostini

That looks like a scary bunch to play against.

What do you think?

Laraque has a no-movement clause.

There's no way Florida will take on Gomez's rediculous salary and a second round pick for Nathan Horton (Laraque is equal to no trade value at all that is why he is omitted). I also doubt very much that Jeff Carter can be traded staight up for Halak

I think after your trades we`d still have Brian Gionta and I`d have him out there on the first line and keep Camms where he is now, with Pleks and AKos...

Laraque has a no-movement clause.

That explain that...*mutters under my breath about the GM again*....He might waive it if the alternative is Hamilton.....

I wonder if Tampa would consider Gomez for Vinny straight up......give both players a fresh start. Cap hit is about the same. Both players suck and are not living up to their salary. A new start might help them and their new teams. The upside is more size and the adoration of the French fans (which should not be overlooked).....the downside is a longer, higher actual salary that the owners have to pay, 10 million compared to Gomez who makes 8 for the next two years and then goes down quickly...

Next trade will be:

To Philly:

Halak

Plekanec

Gill

To Montreal:

5th round pick

Carter

Boucher

Philly has no one on their roster to fill the void that Plekanec would leave....that trade is ridiculous IMO!

Im absolutely torn right now,

Halak has played unbelievable this season, his stats are great ,923 Sv %, 2.57 GAA 1 SO in 15 GP. I think he is proving he can be a #1 goaltender especially after the three games he just got shelled for. However, although I think Carey is definitely going to be great (all he needs is consistency he is still soooo young), the time feels wrong, another good game out of Halak and his trade value is going to be at an all time high, and heading into the new year may be a good time to deal him, I just wish I could see that Desjardins was a capable backup, his AHL stats are phenomenal. Also, getting Carter for Halak is absolutely not happening, we need to be realistic, to get someone like carter we could definetly have to add someone significant, and a draft pick. I would try to get a player Vinny, I really really hate to bring this up, so I feel terrible even suggesting it cause I hate this rumor, but the time feels almost perfect, Halak + Gomez + 3rd to TB, Vinny + 4th to MTL. Call up either Sanford or Desjardins. Say what you want about Vinny's contract but he can be bought out at the end of it, and even this year, the year of his slowest start, he is still outplaying Gomez big time.

What do you think?

Frankly im curious about what we could get for a Metro + Dags package. Metros been great but I think our third line is more of a gritty scoring line than a shutdown line and with everyone healthy we are looking at any combo of Lapierre, Patches, Pouliot, S. Kosty, Moen. And thats after we create a package deal. Obviously this wouldnt get a huge return but these subtle deals can sometimes really pay off.
