Johnny_rudeboy
Considering the success this team has had this season I am surprised no one has started this thread. With 29 of 80 games played the revamped Hamilton Bulldogs look much better than the parent club Montreal Canadiens. Their .672 winning percentage is 4th best in the league. Their 59 goals against is the lowest in the AHL. The have the least regulation losses of any AHL team with 7. They are one of the lowest penalized teams. All this with only one scorer in the top 20 of the league. Hopefully they can continue building off last season and go deeper in the playoffs this season. <img src="http://fans.canadiens.nhl.com/community/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
CHC-4-Life
Another impressive fact is that they were missing some of their best players during this stretch due to callups.
madsprite18
Another impressive fact is that they were missing some of their best players during this stretch due to callups. A very good point!!!! Desharnais especially is a catlyst for Glumac and others... Problem is the Dogs whole division is strong, Rochester has our number, Manitoba is a push, we own Abbotsford so far - but all these teams are tough and they are who we are fighting for the playoffs. (PS - good thread 1970 - you are right - why didn't we have this sooner!!! )

Johnyc
As noted earlier the season thus far is much more impressive when you consider the competition. We are playing in arguably the strongest division and have had to address the injuries within the parent club. I think this team is great. I hope many of you will consider supporting the Dogs when they return to the Bell Centre in the New Year.

romy22
Another thing worth mentioning is that this is happening under a rookie head coach. Nice to see Boucher having such success early inhis career. Not only have a number of really good N HLers come through Hamiltin as players in the last 5-6 years...but coaches haven't done too bad either. Heck, even the play-byplay guy is getting a call up. Derek Wills will call a game for the Sabres v. Vancaouver when Rick Jennerett takes his mid season break.
Johnny_rudeboy
The New Year's Eve game took its toll on the team with Sanford and Johansson being injured. It is going to be an interesting 2 weeks as Hamilton goaltender Curtis Stanford suffered a shoulder injury. Boucher said he'll be out for at least two weeks. Mayer got called up from the ECHL where is not playing very well to back stop Desjardins. The Dogs also lost forward Mikhael Johansson to an undisclosed injury and Boucher said he was unlikely to play (this weekend now past) either. Johnny_rudeboy
Four wins in a row and 5 in their last 6 games have the Dogs comfortably sitting in second in team points in the AHL. It is nice to see that they are on a roll again.
Johnny_rudeboy
Despite losing their top two scorers (now all 3 top Dog goal scorers are in Montreal - Trotter, Desharnais and Darche) this team keeps rolling along winning 5-2 win against a very tough Rochester team. Boucher has got this team firing on all cylinders. Hopefully he can keep it going.

Larry-Robinson
With their top scorers in Montreal, the Dogs didn't miss a beat and beat the Marlies 2-1. They also set a team record for allowing the fewest shots on goal by the team with 12. This team may not have a lot of big players but they have speed and skill. It just goes to show that size is not everything and that it's the heart and desire to win that will make the difference in a players achievements. The Dogs have a good system under Boucher and this allows them to play a sound game while still missing key players due to call ups and injuries. madsprite18
I have a feeling he is going to be on the trading blocks first in line. That would be a serious mistake - he is progressing as well or better than anyone could have hoped and will be a dominant defenceman for years to come for us. At this point his trade value would be good but not what it could be once he is a proven NHLer. Trading him now would be trading away our future - guys like this don't come around very often.
