Telly_39_s_1
http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=304329 Several Oilers tried to forcefully get a discount at an upscale Calgary restaurant, and it almost led to the police being called. Now if this isn't a team in turmoil (pun intended), I don't know what is.

Mauro-Biello
turmoil for the Oilers uh i don't get it Oh and the bit about the charity part felt like it was just the owner trying to make himself look good IMO
gracie12
Meh. I didnt want to pay my bill last time I was there either (crappy food, service & almost got my car towed from their "private" lot). Still, Im sure the oil are at fault, but i wouldnt put it past this place looking for some publicity either (any PR is good PR)
js2
Some of these guys make that much in a single day so I'm not sure why they didn't just pay it and move on.
khadgar
Atta boy Oilers don't take that crap from some Calgary restaurant owner. Next time when they do something like this they should also get up and pee on the floor just to prove their point.
franck5890
Bit of a misleading title - they didn't attempt a dine and dash, they were just upset with the prices they were being charged. I'm sure there were ridiculous markups being added because they were hockey players, and I've also read that they were being charged for full bottles of pricey liquor even though they didn't use the full thing. Shrug. I think jedimaas is right, probably just an owner trying to drum up some publicity for himself.

gracie12
Who knows what really happened, will probably forever be a mystery. True enough. FWITW the owner (manager?) of that place is a complete _____, so I definitely have no trouble believe the oil were not to blame.

gracie12
Should just go across the street to Muse, next time. Actually the 2 best eateries in Kensington imho are both East Indian. Maurya is terrific if you like Northern Indian cuisine (they have some southern dishes too, but their staples are from the north). And the Tandoori Hut, while overall not spectacular, still has the best butter chicken on the planet imho.

It, too, specializes in Northern Indian/Pakistani(their chef and owner is from Pakistan, and knew my coworker from Pakistan, which is how I came to know of this place). However, they have some seriously good stuff from Keralam and Madras. However, I must say that for fine dining, I was thoroughly impressed by Muse. I went there for a 5 course taster and it was very well done. Complimentary wine pairings(which were spot on btw), a logical progression between course to course, and the technical ability of the chef was just amazing. I'd expect that from someone who took Gold at the world skills competition, and subsequently studied for 3 years in switzerland. His agneau en deux services was just awesome. Best lamb I've ever had. The 5 course taster was also only 75 per person.
johnny_canuck_21
Just a bit of info on the manager, as per TSN, in their story titled ALBERTA REGULATOR INVESTIGATES RESTAURANT IN OILERS DISPUTE. TSN says: Maurizio Terrigno, general manager of the restaurant, told several media outlets on Jan. 1 that a group of 45 Oilers players and guests refused to pay the full amount of their bill following the party. Later on, TSN had this to say about the manager: Terrigno couldn't be reached for comment on the investigation. CTV is reporting that Terrigno asked it and The Globe and Mail for money to do more interviews. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=304735

We've had a few office parties where they've asked us to be quieter(in a pub no less) as we may alert undercover Alberta Gaming Commission operatives to the fact that we were drunk as fish, and therefore, they overserved us.
