Innis_Mor
Turned the game off last night, and didn't bother watching tonight. I have other things to do currently, and it is just painful watching this team play at the moment. Looked at stats today (game and season) and my quick take: quite a few fisti-cuffs today. BGL? 3min18 of TOI and no penalties (did he do his thing (fight) and not get a penalty for it? Or did he not do his thing AGAIN! ) Watching those third and fourth lines is just so dreary. Odds of those lines scoring for the Habs are so very low. Moen can't even poke a puck out across the Hab blueline to save whatever 0.79 GF/GA on 5-on-5 for the season to date. Only Carolina and Columbus are (slightly) worse. Leafs are way up at 0.97. I'm almost having to say they are more enjoyable to watch currently. Habs now giving up a SHG each game. Really not helpful. If your team is 0.79 at even strength, and going flat or minus on the PP, you better score a lot of SHG yourself if you plan to win! I mean, looking at the boxscore today, how in the world do you give up a SHG in 8 seconds? Doesn't the face-off following a penalty call go in the opposing team's end? Did the Habs win the face-off and cough up a break-away (again), or do the NYR win the face-off and pass around the puck 4-on 5, go 180 feet and score in 8 seconds flat?!? Telly_39_s_1
Really wish I had learned to play hockey at a younger age so that I could have had the diminutive chance of helping this team out.
Innis_Mor
we lost the draw Bergeron doesn't have a clue on defense and the rest is historyThanks. Saves me watching the "highlights" on TV tonight / in the morning. I suppose game is history when that goal ties it up after leading 2-0. So many Hab players cannot identify (puck speed, play development, options, open ice areas, etc.). BGL and Moen, I kinda expect that with. The rest?!? I just don't know where their heads are at. swimmerpuck
Observations: Chris Higgins didn't score. I can't believe it. That would have made the evening complete. Out of all of those goals I didn't see one shrug out of Halak. D'Agostini? I don't know what to say. Grab life by the horns youngin' and do something. Gomez and Mara didn't seem amped to play the former team. The powerplay has turned the tide in these last two games - in a very, very bad way but the goals scored percentage should still be there even though they are not our goals. According to the event summary the Canadiens had 2 giveaways tonight vs NYR's 5 giveaway. Somebody double check. Josh Gorges knocked in the fourth goal after Halak had it in the pads then looked heroic when he tried to fish it out of the net. Hamrlik genuinely looked to be not happy when put out for the last powerplay on the first wave. Kinda like put the other guys out for practice coach. Pouliet didn't have a good game but I love the way he tried to knock some teeth out. Markov for the second game in a row took a stick in the face and no penalty was called. Not that it would have helped. The team does not like Jacques Martin. Neither do I ever since he messed with Sergei Kostitsyn. Chris Lee did not, I repeat did not cost us this game. The defence had its trouble but our forwards got manhandled and outworked too. I was impress with the five Habs on the ice in between the 5th and 6th goals. Without throwing in the towel they actually worked to get a goal. Other than that I thought things went pretty good.l

Guest ForeverGuyLafleur
As they usually say in the army, it was S.S.D.D. (Same *censored*, different day). I still have a hard time understanding how the team could come out so poorly after getting a 2-0 lead knowing the only way to get out with a win almost for sure is to get 3-0 up. When things went physical, I was also wondering where were the likes of Moen and Laraque to draw some blood out when there was a need to against the Rangers' rough stuff. At the same time, many players went on with lazy stuff everywhere (especially Markov, Bergeron, D'Agostini, Mara and more)... there are many who need to look themselves into the mirror now. BTW, is there any way Jacques Martin can pull out a 90-minute puckless training session tomorrow morning at 10:00 AM or for BG to call somebody from Hamilton to kick the crap out of some among forwards on checking lines or boost the Cammalleri-Plekanec duo? We'd need that right now.

ColRouleBleu
Observations: Thanks for those Chris Higgins didn't score. I can't believe it. That would have made the evening complete. It would have eh? but even in this kind of situation, he's hopeless Out of all of those goals I didn't see one shrug out of Halak. That's coz' he cant lift his shoulders, he has the weight of the team on them D'Agostini? I don't know what to say. Grab life by the horns youngin' and do something. oh but he does grab life by the horns, it's the concept of playing good hockey he has trouble grabbing Gomez and Mara didn't seem amped to play the former team. when does mara seem amped to do anything anyway The powerplay has turned the tide in these last two games - in a very, very bad way but the goals scored percentage should still be there even though they are not our goals. cant find anything to reply to this one According to the event summary the Canadiens had 2 giveaways tonight vs NYR's 5 giveaway. Hamrlik genuinely looked to be not happy when put out for the last powerplay on the first wave. Kinda like put the other guys out for practice coach. did any of them look happy about anything after the 1st period? i guess JM didn't want yet another SH goal to happen considering how well Markie and MAB did all evening Pouliet didn't have a good game but I love the way he tried to knock some teeth out. good ol' redden almost swallowed his dentures Markov for the second game in a row took a stick in the face and no penalty was called. Not that it would have helped. They NEVER call stickwork on Markie, you should know it by now The team does not like Jacques Martin. Neither do I ever since he messed with Sergei Kostitsyn. Nothing to reply to this one either Chris Lee did not, I repeat did not cost us this game. True that, he even had a chance to. He could have refused Gio's goal The defence had its trouble but our forwards got manhandled and outworked too. they play as a team, group failure I was impress with the five Habs on the ice in between the 5th and 6th goals. Corson27_mtl
I know Josh shouldn't be on the first pairing, but at least he showed some heart sticking up for a team mate. That was alot more than most of the guys did tonight, and a hundred times more than BGL did, and that's what he's paid for. The only high lights for me tonight was the Gorges and Pouliot fights and the second goal.
fourtrax
When your entire D corps is healthy and you still have to play Gorges on the top pairing, you know something's wrong. Josh tries hard, and he's got a great heart, but he simply can't take those minutes against top-end players.

fourtrax
Why do you think O'Byrne sat again???? I'm not sure. Objectively, there is no way to justify sitting a valuable prospect still under contract in favor of Paul Mara, who'll be UFA this summer. The only way I can see it is if Mara is playing at a high level. However, Mara is not playing at a high level. Not even close. Talk about living hand to mouth. All those minutes going to a defenseman with a team-worst plus-minus who likely won't be a Hab next year. Those are minutes we could be giving to Ryan to speed up his development. If it were up to me, I'd play Subban ahead of MAB, O'Byrne ahead of Mara, and Belle or Carle ahead of Gill. There is no way they can play worse from a defensive standpoint, and every chance they can do better.

swimmerpuck
Why do you think O'Byrne sat again???? I'm wondering if he's not with the team again. He was back and it was said he was to be in the lineup last Thursday. That didn't happen and then it was said he'd be in the lineup on Saturday and that didn't happen. I'd like JM to experiment with a Markov - O'Byrne.
fourtrax
Then I wish it were up to you. The worst part is that we're playing these aging marginal players just to avoid a basement finish. That's it. Every year, our goal isn't to win, it's to avoid being the biggest loser. Mara and MAB will be gone next year. Gill is 35 and on the downside of his career. We have many prospects who need ice time, but they can't get it because Bob Gainey can't face the possibility of us finishing at the bottom of the conference.
