AK-1
According to Patrick Caisse, a deal between the Kings and the Habs has been accepted. Pacioretty (maybe?) would be going to the Kings, while Frolov would be coming back. However, the Kings want to replace Frolov with Kozlov/Whitney before proceeding with the Frolov deal.
A defenseman... Not Gorges please! Maybe Hammer?
bikerbob7501
Not sure how much to buy into this, but if it is true, then I don't see a problem. We would have to send someone else L.A's way I think, if we want to make up for the cap issue, although I don't know what Alexander Frolov makes

I HOPE this is true. What a good way for Gauthier to start as a GM! ...
AK-1
I just don't like the idea of trading Pacioretty, 21 yo, for a rental.
HH63
Gauthier isn't stupid. There's no way Montreal acquires anyone that will only be a rental, unless they strongly feel that the player can be part of the future. And with the cap issues Montreal will have this summer, I don't think they'd be looking at more players to sign. Besides, once everyone gets back from their injuries, we have Gionta-Gomez-Pouliot Cammalleri-Plekanec-A.Kostitsyn So I don't see where he would even fit in... Me thinks this rumour is *****

gracie12
I just don't buy it. Me neither, although, this is exactly the type of move I expect prior to the deadline. I have this gut feeling that Gauthier is going to make some "big splash" which is fine except that I think we will be on the losing end of it. Making a trade for the sake of making a trade is never a good plan imho. Well, Eklund hasn't reported it, so it probably is true.............. Fixed it for ya!!
swimmerpuck
UFA who is not going to save us. I like the player but not the circumstances. Keep Patches. Keep Gorges. Keep Hamrlik. Mara for Frolov I could live with but I don't see that happening. Mara's been injured so..................blah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

bikerbob7501
Not if you get Frolov to sign for 2-5 years at 3 million I'm thinking. Spacek (if some how possible) Pac, for Frolov sits well with me. Gill and Pacioretty would be a dream come true. You wont see Gorges traded I wouldn't think. jzun00
why in the world would the LA Kings trade this guy when they are having a terrific season and battling for home ice. For a prospect (Max Pac) at that. LA is not going to move Frolov unless Montreal gives them NHL players that have talent and upside. The Kings are in to good of a position to trade this guy. Sorry, I just don't buy it.
jordanjordan
what have you been smoking guys? Unless don't sign this guy its not a good deal but if we get this guy signed this is a monster move! He's big, he's fast, he's got good hands, has chemistry with Cammalleri, he's young and he's been a 20+ goals scorer 5 out of his 6 seasons so far. How is this not worth Pacioretty? if we send Hamrlik the other way than we shed salary if we send Gorges the other way we will need to replace him in the off-season. What everyone is saying is that Pacioretty for Frolov straight up is a bad move because Pacioretty is quite young, has potential, and would most likely be willing to resign with us. Frolov on the other hand, he's better than Pacioretty no doubt, but would he resign with us? Who knows... If Hamrlik, Mara, Spacek or Gill were in the mix as well, in that case i personally wouldn't mind...we'd shed some salary and we really need to do that considering we're on a very very short leash at the moment. 362186_1475251427
Unless we can unload a defenseman in this deal, it makes no sense. We don't need rentals, we need healthy players, cap space and to keep our prospects. If Frolov is willing to sign for the same amount he is currently making than let's get it done, he is a big, explosive player and is tremendously talented. You also then get him with Pleks and Cammy, leaving the Kos Bros to play together on a line. I don't think Gauthier is going to make a trade just to do something, he has done a good job with the other teams he has worked with and there's no reason to believe it will be any different here. Wayne-1
if true, the Habs would have to shed more than $1M in current annual payroll and hope no one gets hurt the rest of the way -- and what are the chances of that happening??? guys on IR still count against the cap... and even the LTI Exemption doesn't apply for guys going on the IR during the last 24 days or 10 games of the regular season... with the Habs luck they'll end up playing with 5 players and a goalie the last game of the season... ChiLla
Unless we can dump Hamrlik's or at least Spacek's salary, I don't see the point of this move. Now way we'd have money to re-sign both Plekanec and Frolov. Sacrificing Pacioretty for a rental? Not a chance in hell.
HockeyMan86
Trade spacek for a low pick to a team that needs a shot from the point. get rid of BGL hes useless we dont need him. thats 5.5m off the books. bring in carle or weber or even PK if hes ready next year to replace spacek on D. and we can use the cap space we got from spacek to sign frolov to a long term deal....he shouldnt be making more then 3.5m a year anyways....and if he wants more money just give him a longer term and front load the contract...its not like these types of contracts are new in the NHL anyways haha...then we would have our top 6 done with a mix of small speedy players and big power forwards.
