Rumor: Frolov To Habs

AK-1

Recommended Posts

Someone break down the numbers..

As much as everyone here wants to see Frolov.. How can we afford him.. And i dont mean as a rental but i mean next season?

Even if we get rid of Hammer's 5.5, that will most likely end up in Pleks's pocket..

We would still need to trade away a High paid player.. Meanin Gionta/Gomez/Cammy / Markov

IF Frolov resigns (and we manage to send some salary to LA, Spacek & Hammer being the obvious choices) - why not? I'd still hate to see another power forward in the making leave Montreal, though. The pain of losing LeClair (who was my favorite Hab back then) will never go away, I guess..

Problem is we will still need to resign some d next season..

If we drop trade Hammer + Spacek

Then we will have

Markov

Obyrne

Gorges - Injured

Bergeron - Injured

Mara - Injured

Gill

LoL... thats it... We would need to call up 3 Rookies. Which isnt possible unless we can pickup someone else off of waivers or if were receiving a d in return aswell ..

45,158,333 is our cap for next season.

57,449,560 the cap this season weather it goes down or up im not sure

leaves us with around 12m

moving hamrliks contract moves another 5.5m....17m in cap space

Sergei Kostitsyn LW 585,000816,667 RFA

Benoit Pouliot LW 803,250803,250 RFA

Maxim Lapierre C 800,000687,500 RFA*

Mathieu Darche LW 600,000600,000 UFA

Matt D'Agostini RW 500,000500,000 RFA

Carey Price G 850,0002,200,000 RFA

Jaroslav Halak G 800,000775,000 RFA*

yeah looking at our situation we probably couldnt even resign frolov haha unless we are sending BOTH spacek and hamrlik somewhere else for picks and prospects...

also it has been stated by gorges himself that hes feeling fine and is ready to play against philly. front page of the habs website if you want the article.

This rumour has "rumour" stamped all over it. Even in the US, it has "rumor" stamped on it.

Eklund has missed it and this is the first time I've commented on a rumour (I think).

So it's probably all true. All of it. Everything everyone has already said is true.

And so is this. It's a rumour. How many come right?

:unsure::blink:

(sorry for the less than serious response on my part to this rumour).

Just read this one

Hey guys,

Getting so many questions on this so I'll let you guys know what I'm hearing:

The Frolov to Montreal rumor is pretty much phony. Lets remember here, the Kings are in the middle of a playoff race and hope to go deep. The Kings wouldn't mind moving Frolov, and they were fully intent on doing so until Ray Whitney's unrealistic contract demands foiled their trade with the Hurricanes. My source in LA says nothing is imminent at all.

Now, time to put my laptop away. Won't have time to come back on today guys.

Here's what I just read off toutsurlehockey.com (they usually don't report imaginary-deals-as-done a la Eklund)

"Selon ce que rapporte Team999, le Canadien de Montréal aurait aquis l’attaquant Alexander Frolov des Kings de Los Angeles en retour de l’attaquant Matt D’Agostini et du défenseur Yanick Weber. La transaction devrait être annoncé d'ici demain.

Selon ce que rapporte le journaliste Rich Hammond du LA Kings Insider, il pourrait bien y avoir des mouvements de personnel aujourd’hui au sein de l’organisation."

For the unfortunately non-bilinguals amongst you, Team999 apparently reported (as was mentioned in a previous post in this thread) that Frolov seems to have been traded to the Habs in exchange for Weber & D'Agostini (i'm glad they kept Pacioretty).

I'm crossing my fingers...

But! who'll be headed onto the 3rd line? (Cam Pleks AK SK Gomez Gionta Pouliot Frolov )

Frolov won't resign with LA in the off season, so LA wants to move him now and get something decent back...my guess is defence for a good playoff run. Hamrlik is a solid D man and LA could take his contract.

Frolov and Cammy are apparently great together.

If Montreal got Frolov now, we could see how he and Cammy play together first hand. If we wait until UFA season to get Frolov, likely we will have to lock in long term.

I think this rumour has some merit to it. Kings get something for a guy who's going to leave and the Habs create another "proven pair" of forwards.

Frolov-Plek-Cammy

Pouliot-Gomez-Gionta

SK-Metro/Moore-AK

Moen-Metro/Moore-Rookie

But I think we'd have to shed some cap from the D (Hamrlik, Mara, Gill)...personally I like Spacek for the $ and he's got a good +/-

It all just makes too much sense, so I'd be surprised if happens. Let's get more guys like Moore in (*****?).
