Important Message Concerning Signatures/artwork

We regret to inform you that we have to crack down on signatures/artwork:

From the COC

Your signature image will not exceed 450x150 pixels. For those unfamiliar with pixels, they are roughly half a millimetre in size. Images wider than 450 pixels will stretch the screen out to the side too far on many monitors.

The image in your signature will not exceed 75 KB. Not every one is on high speed and images weighing more than 75 KB will lead to slowdowns for many. If you are unsure how to optimize your image so that it meets the weight requirements, please contact an administrator or a moderator via private message.

We realize a lot of time and effort has gone into making your signatures, which is why we have given everyone a week to make the necesary changes. This will ensure the site runs smoothly for everyone. Those who have not complied with these changes (in the time allowed) will have their artwork/signatures deleted.

-Thank you

it was always 450x150, wasn't it?

Yes it was... But the mods weren't really enforcing the rule... If it was too big and slowing things down or distorting the screen, the mods would edit and send a friendly PM. Lately it's just gotten out of hand, so we decided to post a reminder.

But firststar...this sig never stretched the screen?

It's more that just stretching the screen, you probably don't notice it, but those who don't have high speed or have older computers have to sit and wait several minutes for the screen to load. One is image is fine, the problem is that when several members have images exceeding the limit, then it really slows it down... Plus you know how shaky this server can be.

You're original one is perfect.

Ok,thanks.

Just trying to get clarity here....have had that sig forever....anyways,I do agree & understand this situation, regarding oversize sigs.

It stretches it out vertically (makes the page longer than it needs to be). It's not a huge deal but can be an annoyance if too many members do it.

I've been in favour of cracking down on these for a long time (the rule has always existed), but I felt it wasn't consistently enforced so I didn't want to single anyone out. I'm in complete agreement with enforcing the rules here.

And for reference, my signature image is exactly 450 x 150 in dimensions (so that's the maximum) and 19.5 kB in file size (showing that 75kB is way more than enough)

I know mine is 400*130, but I can't find the file size
