habsin09
Does this inflated contracted completely screw up the chances of signing Halak & Price? 6.8 mill 2 year contract for a below average starter? What is Nashville thinking? Halak and Price are both better and more accomplished, so we're now pretty screwed.

And MA Fleury is making a mil less. Arguments can be made either way, seems like Nashville ran into some money, that's all.
Kid-Canada_mtl
Well its actually 3.4 million/year not 6.8 but its a fairly decent contract if a bit overpaid. Even if his stats are a bit weaker recently but he does win and get the job done.
roy_133
Rinne was a pending UFA, Jaro and Carey are both RFAs so no this has no impact really.
habsin09
I thought Rinne was an RFA as well. Ok that calms me a little, and yes the 6.8 is over the 2 years, that's what I meant. Still think this will have an impact on contract negototiations an might inflate the goalie market as a whole, there's a ton of goalies like Rinne and they shouldn't be paid that high! Phizetheole
Yeah I agree I don't think he's worth that much. At least not yet
franck5890
Honestly, especially once you consider that he's a UFA, it doesn't seem like a lot at all. Not many people get the opportunity to see Rinne because he plays in a market that gets absolutely no media coverage, but he's a pretty solid goaltender on an average team. He's setting himself up for back-to-back 25 win seasons and has 10 shutouts over the last two seasons as well. From what I read he's a solid 'road goalie' as well.
