Hawker_mtl
This is getting absolutely ridiculous. Watching this video makes my blood boil. Players right now are showing zero respect towards one another, and somebody is going to get seriously hurt very soon. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dtSx2z_CPKQ Original Seabrook hit on Perry is at about 6 seconds in. It's a bad looking high hit on a pretty fluid play. Doesn't really look intentional, but it's well worth at least 2 minutes in the box. The really disgusting part happens about 12 seconds later as James Wisniewski retaliates on Seabrook with a dangerous high hit, smashing his head into the glass. If it were up to me, I'd suspend this guy for the rest of the season. I don't even want to talk precedents. This hit was completely dangerous, completely unnecessary, completely pre-meditated, and there is no doubt in my mind this guy was hitting to injure. My hands are seriously shaking with rage right now as I type this. Absolutely disgusting.
Hawker_mtl
The more I watch it, the more furious I get. This guy came in hard all the way from the blue line, left his feet, and delivered an elbow to Seabrook's face. I wouldn't mind if this guy never played another NHL game in his life. babinator77
i'm not sure that this warrants it's own thread but i'm with you. what's with the goon show?! i watched the highlights this morning and was floored by both the seabrook hit and there was another boarding hit in another game (jersey?) that, at least, got penalized on the spot. it's disturbing. leafs_rock_go_mccabe
We should just start a "head shot debate" thread. I mean, Seabrook didn't even touch the puck.

If a mod wants to set this up and move this thread I'd be fine with it. It's pretty sad that there are so many of these to discuss though.
leafs_rock_go_mccabe
Also, I think it's important to note that on the play Anaheim was penalized (2 minutes for charging), but Chicago received an offsetting minor for holding somewhere on the same play... Which I'm not sure makes sense, as Chicago was the last to touch the puck and the play was still going. So, what? Duncan Keith got a 2 minute minor for holding after the whistle? Wisniewski could have received a penalty for elbowing, charging, attempt to injure...

Hawker_mtl
Wizniewski seriously could have been given any or all of about half a dozen penalties there. Skating in hard from the blue line - Charging Seabrook nowhere near the puck - Interference Wiz leaves his feet - Automatic penalty Seabrook smashed into the boards/glass - Boarding Elbow to the face/jaw - Elbowing And the worst part? It was all pre-meditated from the time he left the blue line, and the intent to injure was blatantly obvious. I can't remember the last time I saw a hit this dirty. Chunwah
This is Wizniewski's 2nd offense this season. If he ISN'T suspended, gg. For those who don't remember his first offense:
beaubie
You could see, he wasn't even looking anywhere else except for Seabrook. Beeline to him. That's horrible even if it you'd want to call it retaliation. Seems like all we hear about are terrible hits these day.....Stop freaking hurting each other!! Is this the 'open season' people were talking about?
js2
This is what happens when the league says head shots are fine like they did in the Cooke/Savard incident.
Lynch_mtl
I gotta admit, I was kind of hoping that half way through the video that where ever the announcers were sitting would blow up, as I'd be generally surprised to hear these weren't the two biggest idiots in hockey not on the ice, ignoring Milbury of course. That's the problem I have with the situation, that the announcers seem more distressed over the Perry hit than the hit on Seabrook. They even ask if he's selling the hit!!! COME ON. I'm trying to picture how I would react to a hit like that, and it seems fairly similar to Seabrook's reaction to the hit, only I'd be a bit more unconcious. Disgusting. I actually figured the OP was overreacting, but man, that pisses me right off.
Kubby31
This is what happens when the league says head shots are fine like they did in the Cooke/Savard incident. Exactly.....but believe it or not....I think finally their coming around here & are getting on board with the GM's....who are all in favor of implementing new rule as we speak......FINALLY. I think even the league is now sick & tired as are most of the players that this has gone on way too long...and that it stops here & now.

For those who don't remember his first offense: Ugly. The dude throws a vicious elbow there, too. This is getting ridiculous. Not often do I think that being challenged to a fight for a hit would have been a more appropriate response than the Wiznieski hit on Seabrook. RSD
and to top it off Wisniewski says that him and Seabrook are friends...what an idiot...perry gets hit clean by seabrook and this idiot comes flying in from the blue line and jumps at seabrooks head... thats my second chicago dman who has been obliterated this week...damn it all to hell...the nhl needs to start doing something about this...give him 10+ games just to send a message finally... Kubby31
give him 10+ games just to send a message finally... As js2 said above.....this is what the leauge has allowed all along................slaps on the wrists, Heard this on the radio from the GM's meetings last week. Yes,correct......but now it has come out that the league/GM's/competition committee may all be on board to implement this new rule as early as next week. leafs_rock_go_mccabe
the nhl needs to start doing something about this...give him 10+ games just to send a message finally... Suspend him for 20 games. Anaheim's not making the post-season, so what's the punishment if Wizniewski misses most of the remainder of the season? Make him miss the ENTIRE remainder of 2009-2010 AND the first 6 or 7 games of 2010. The league needs to get these players and these plays away from the league. It's not tough, it's not cool... It's just disturbing.
