AK-1
39 games, 2 goals, 17 assists. Not bad for our young defender. He's 22 or 23, I think. Perhaps he could be NHL ready in another year or two!? Yup, he's pretty surprising for a undrafted college signee. Hopefully there is some untapped potential in this young man. FirstStar
Yup, he's pretty surprising for a undrafted college signee. Hopefully there is some untapped potential in this young man. He needs to get use to the long season first... This is one thing I've noticed from University/College players. I think we often forget that they play way less games in the NCAA. Let him have a few season in the AHL and take it from there. I like his size, like to see if he can stand up to an 80+ game season before making any judgment on this kid. js2
The two major things he needs to work on is his decision making with the puck as he's been prone to giving it away quite easily and using his size more effectively to his advantage. So far he's made some nice improvements in his defensive game since the beginning of the season which is nice to see. When next season comes around I fully believe that he'll be the major piece for the Bulldogs defence.

The Hamilton defence is going to be pretty solid as Nash gets experience and Stejskal joins him. Both these defencemen Nash 23 /6'3 218lbs and Stejskal 22 /6'3 210lbs are the same size and play hard hitting hockey with ability to play the PP and PK.They just need to get used to the long schedule in the pro ranks and learn the faster pace of the AHL and the NHL.When that happens the Habs will have homegrown defence;Markov,Subban,Nash,Stejskal,Bennett, Tinordi and possibly Klubertanz they will need lots of work (2years in Hamilton first)But it is conceivable that all the Habs defencemen could be homegrown talent in three years. ChiLla
Called up by the Habs as per RDS. http://www.rds.ca/canadien/chroniques/315051.html Looks like Carle really isn't part of the plan any longer.

Yeah, really. I never would have expected Nash to get called up this season. As much as I find him to be an interesting prospect, and one I hope finds success, I definitely thought Carle would be the next to get called up. I wonder if Nash will actually get an opportunity to play.

My curiosity gets the best of me when it comes to new prospects. I'll look at is as win/win. Either Spacek is ok to go and we have a better line-up, or he can't and I get to see a Habs prospect I've never seen before.

I'm curious to see how he can do, and it would be nice to have a guy with good size and speed on the back end. The worst case scenario would be Spacek trying to go and having to leave the game or playing poorly because of injury.

FirstStar
He's an insurance policy in case Spacek cant go. According to Habs i/o Nash's call up points to that fact that Gill may be gone longer than expected(they make no mention of him replacing spacek). Apparently, the 3 goals he's scored this season have come on the bulldogs PP. Maybe they're hoping a fresh face may help out our PP as well. Interesting choice, curious to see how he does. BigTed3
Decent first game in the league... JM didn't give him many minutes, but he played a sound game and he did a nice job getting his shot off from the point, so there's definitely some potential there. He could be a nice fit in the future playing on the left of Weber.
Shawn1990
He had a rough first shift, just like everyone does in their first NHL game. I thought he was decent. Had some nice shots from the point, too. He would wait for the covering forward to move out of the way and would get a nice look.
