Guest Carey_Price
Is anyone else kinda bummed out the Bruins are getting a good pick this season? Our rivals are most likely going to get the 2nd pick overall which is going to be Séguin (probably). Why can't the leafs win when we finally want them to win a few games so they can at least finish somewhere closer to 24th. Well have fun with Séguin (otherwise Hall or Fowler) you Bruins fan, I know they'll do great...hopefully they don't cause us too much trouble in the coming seasons. Nah I want the Bruins to have a high pick, yes I dislike the Bruins, but I dislike the Leafs more and this will be something to rub in their fans faces for years. It's not a sure thing, considering they are only 3 points behind 3 or 4 teams. They are playing better as weel, but they are missing time. If they stay where they are, it should be Seguin, unless the Oilers pick him. He is rank number 1 for the draft. But yeah, I think the Oilers will go with Hall. But Boston/Toronto could still win the lottery and pick number one. I don't want the Bruins to get that good of a pick, but I admit that this would be funny. It makes me happy to see TO in the basement and to know they gave away their top 3 hit. Think Boston will take Seguin, only cos I believe Edmonton have had their eye on Hall since the world jr's. They saw how Eberle (who they have already) and Hall are together, imagine having both those players on one team in the NHL? Edmonton (if they are smart), will have a deadly team in 5 years time. If they play their cards right, the Oilers can be an offensive powerhouse within the next few years: Hall, Eberle, Paarjavi-Svensson, Omark, Gagner, Cogliano. WOW. If I had a choice, no question I'd prefer Toronto to have the pick from a hockey perspective. Boston is only really lacking an offensive weapon at wing, if they get Hall look out. gracie12
Id like to jump back 10 months or so ago when I was saying what a horrible trade this was for the leafs but people were going on an on about what a steal it was for them. I dont usually say "i told you so" but since it involves hurting the leafs, I dont mind doing it at all (although I do dislike the bruins more). I'm not sure how many people were saying it was a steal. It seemed to be an argument between "horrible move" and "hard to tell, might be decent". I was in the "might be decent" group, but honestly expected the Leafs to be a 6th-8th place team. Had I known one or possibly both of those picks would be top five, I would have said it was awful. But I'm giving myself the benefit of hindsight, even without it I should have anticipated that them landing this low was at least a realistic possibility. 362186_1475251427
I don't think Burke expected the Laughs to be this bad. If you told him they would get a 1st or 2nd pick in this year's draft, I'll bet he takes the pick instead of trading it for the 55 points Kessel brought to the table. That being said, the Leafs younger guys look to have grown with a year in the bigs, especially Bozak. Goaltending is still going to be a problem in Leaf land and unfortunately they don't have any picks left to give us for Halak/Price Let's just hope they win a couple more games and jump out of 2nd last.....not their last game though, they WILL lose that one!!! GO HABS!!!

tmash
oh man I didn't realize Boston has their 2nd round pick: 32nd overall I believe, nearly a first rounder. Not to mention next year's first, which given the current team may be another top five ... this could go down as one of the worst trades in history, I mean Kessel is a good player, but this much? As funny as it is for Leafs fans, they are making Boston very good, as mentioned before they also gave them Rask who is starting to come into form. For MTL's sake it would be better if Tor had this pick instead of Boston, bc the one key piece Boston is missing is that high end scorer. Also a key part of this is the cap stuff, Kessel came at a price, Boston's player will be controllable and cheap.

There was the Raycroft for Rask trade... Which also looks pathetic now. Man, Toronto really knows how to make a bad deal. Montreal's prediciment isn't pretty, but Toronto could really have been looking more positive had they not made that Kessel trade. I know draft choices are never the sure thing until they make it to the NHL, but some of those kids look pretty darn good.

And that's an interesting point. Let's say Kessel continues and is a good 40 goal, 80 point player, all 3 guys the Bruins draft are busts. Does that mean Toronto won the trade? Not really, it just means the Bruins were unlucky / suck at scouting.
