The last few years when these guys have met there's always been a clear and obvious favourite, but not so much this year IMO. Remember last time when Pittsburgh "threw" their last game of the season to play the Sens, then proceeded to sweep them? This should be a pretty fun match-up.

Well Ottawa is missing their top offensive defencemen Kuba and Kovalev their 4th leading scorer. Cooke-Staal-Kennedy will matchup against Michalek-Spezza-Alfredsson and Ottawa does not have the weapons to produce a ton of goals outside that line. Fisher and Cullen may do well but Fisher's been only OK the last month and Cullen only has 8 points in 21 games since being traded. The one advantage Ottawa has is shutdown D-men since they have 3 monster D-men (Sutton, Phillips and Volchenkov) and they will need them to shutdown Pittsburgh's top 2. The real key might be Erik Karlsson the rookie and if he can play a 2-way game and get some points from the back-end.

Pittsburgh obviously has the weapons to go against any team and high scoring defensemen but they might have a bit of an issue with a shutdown pair. Then again Leopold and Orpik are good 2-way D-men and could go with Staal's line to matchup vs Spezza + Alfie. They are fairly healthy and have decent wingers, which could actually lead to either Guerin or Ponikarovsky playing on the 3rd or 4th line since Dupuis is tearing it up at a PPG pace recently playing in the top 6. Fleury is battle-tested in the playoffs and the last time these 2 teams met, Pittsburgh dominated them. (of course minus Heatley for Ottawa and Hossa for Pittsburgh for now).

4-1 Penguins is my prediction. Go Pens!

As a habs fan living in Ottawa...I not only hope the sens lose in 4 games, but I also hope each loss is a 1-0 shutout just to make the losses a lot more sweeter so it'll be more enjoyable when i make fun of my friends. But that most likely won't happen, but hey...here's too Ottawa losing to the pens whether it's in 4 games or 7 game. Go pens go! :D

I'm pretty sure the Sens will lose with the injury and goaltending issues they have. Their goalies are up and down a lot and without Kovalev their secondary scoring isn't so great. With Kuba out of the lineup they only have Karlsson for offense from the defense. My guess is Pens in 5 or 6. Crosby and Malkin will abuse an Ottawa defense that has let in a lot of goals against this year.

I'm glad those two teams match up in 1st round, it garantees that one of the two will be out :D I wont go as far as chanting go Sens , but I hope Cindy bursts form an overdose of Pizza.

I don't want to smell pizza anymore this season but I can't cheer for Penguins either.
