The entire thing in the East is getting more and more volatile by the day. One day you'd see these cheesepuffs making it to the playoffs, and the next day these cheesepuffs are out of contention and the Islanders would make to the playoffs in their stead.

UNIONDALE, N.Y. -- The New York Islanders have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with team captain Doug Weight.

Weight and will be playing his 20th NHL season, and his third the Islanders. Last year, the 39-year-old centre had one goal and 16 assists in 36 games before he missed the rest of the season with a shoulder injury that required surgery.

The Islanders made the announcement Tuesday.

The four-time all-star comes into the season with 276 goals and 748 assists in 1,220 games with the New York Rangers, Edmonton Oilers, St. Louis Blues, Carolina Hurricanes, Anaheim Ducks and the Islanders.

Not until he can prove to be a leader and score 65+ points a season. The Islanders are going to be a good team in a few years, but this year I am predicting their getting a top 7 pick.

Probably, still not good enough this year. They'll eventually need to spend more in order to ice a competitive team, their internal Cap doesn't exactly help.
